Hey guys, i've been fairly busy at work and such and figuring out all the small problems with this damn motor, hopefully tomorrow i will get to fire it up. I need to get a new power steering bracket and adjustment bracket, thank the lord for Jeff's Bronco Graveyard for that......they should be in next week, but here is where I am currently at....
So the tires came in and I had just enough time to put them on before it started to snow, I have to work all weekend but I'm hoping I can button up the motor and get it running come Monday. Here are some pics of the truck with the new wheels/tires.
The rears I bought from a buddy of mine 38.5x16 Super Swamper Tsl....but they do not make them anymore, so I tried to get the closest mathcing set. The fronts are 38.5x14.5 Super Swamper Tsl/SX
My dad had an 84 Explorer a lot like yours same red color. Too bad he didnt keep it. He had a big green 79 4x4 with the 400 also. I would have liked to have either one.
Yeah I like that red myself, I'm stuck with what color I want to paint it, not that it matters because it will mostly be Earth Brown......hahaha
My brother had a 78 Bronco when I was younger and I loved that thing. 400/C6 with a 9" out back, all jacked up on 40's....I loved that thing. And a buddy in high school had a truck just like mine except his was Blue and a 4 speed......I was so close to buying it, but he needed the money right there and then. So when I saw this for $500, I couldnt say no.
Gentlemen! I need your help!!!! I finally got a day off to work on the beast and I have run into an issue :/ Before putting the distributor in I made sure I was at TDC and the distributor is pointed at the #1 cylinder on the cap. Got everything hooked up, go to start it and it will turn over, but won't start......it just backfires through the carb....I'm new to this Ford stuff.....Did i miss something? I double checked TDC and made sure everything was connected, I double checked the firing order too. Oi Any tips would be great! Thank you fine gents!
Are you on TDC of the compression stroke? You can be TDC of the exhaust stroke too. The crank turns 2 revolutions to every 1 revolution of the cam. Is this the case or did you not move the motor while the dizzy was out. If the motor never moved from where it was when the dizzy was removed it should be in the same place still. However, it needs to be at TDC of the compression stroke or the whole thing will be 180° out.
