when you take the headlight out and when you put it back in..do you have to readjust the beams? or that screw you took out with the star key is just to hold the light in place? its not an adjusting screw?
They hold it somewhat but the 2 clips are what really holds them there. The star screws do adjust the position of the lamps.

I finally got around to shooting a small video of the strobes set up. I'm still figuring out the light patterns and sequences. They look blue but they are really white led. I plan on adding a few more led strobes to the bottom of the bumper and to the top of the windshield under the visor. I also polished the stock lamps to get a little more brightness. This whole light thing can get a bit out of hand so Im gonna just do the back windows, back blinkers, running boards and im done. I might put a small blue neon strip inside the grill behind the ford emblem to give it a glow. I ordered the led interior and running board light upgrade from eBay and it should be here soon.
I got a look from a state trooper at a red light today and he didn't know what to make of the truck. I notice he kept looking at it, not in a suspicious way but in a "Damm I wish these were standard issue" way.. He gave me a salute and I returned the gesture. When the light changed he didn't move, as if letting me take off so he can hear the roar. So I gave it to em. I stepped on the gas and showed him what this king can do. When I looked in the rear view his face was lit up as if he just got a fix of Big Ford Truck juice.
Im not sure what people make of the trooper look but it sure feels good when I see speeders slow down when they see it. Some drivers become stiff and don't even look my way. I get the occasional speeder that blows by me then slows down after I switch to his lane. lol.. Im really enjoying it but Im stuck on seeing this puppy sitting on 305's.
I had those same LEDs on my Expedition in the same spot (behind the grille) and they started losing individual LEDs. Cheap Chinese parts. If (when) they start dying on you, I can point you to some good models that are brighter than any of that style you have and have a lot more patterns.
Have you checked with your local vehicle codes to make sure you won't get tagged when the trooper that is having a bad day sees you running them (on, not off)? If not it might be a good idea to make sure you run the right color. Here in CA you can run amber when you are presenting a hazard (i.e. stopped on the side of the road working) but you can't run white alone without amber or another color (hence why I run both colors).
I don't know FL laws but it might be a good idea to double-check.
Would suck to get a cop on a bad day you know? Also, those white ones you put in the turn signals will appear dimmer an if you put in amber. The "rule" to get the brightest light from an LED is to put the same color strobe inside the lense as the color of the lense. So in my third tail light slot I have red Vertex, if i can find room I will put amber ones in the turns, etc. It sounds off since most bulbs are white under the lenses, but when it comes to LEDs if you match the color to the lense, more of that color lit gets out. I didn't believe it till I compared the white LEDs behind red lenses to the red LEDs...my tail lights are CRAZY bright.
My iPad didn't show any video, but if your headlight strobes are set to an alternating ("wig-wag") pattern, there is a 90% chance they are seriously illegal to use. A random pattern is probably OK, but the "wig-wag" variant pattern is almost exclusive to public safety. If you notice my video of my tail lights, I have mine set to triple-steady alternating so if I'm out of my "home" area no-one can give me grief. Locally they know our badges and never question, but if we go to LA or the like I don't want to get any drama.
I don't drive around with these on. Im an independent contractor and do a lot sprinkler work for the city and will only be use when working. I've already been warned by the local sheriff that I need to use some sort of strobes wen working on the side of the road.
Here is the Law in Florida for strobes:
(4) Road or street maintenance equipment, road or street maintenance vehicles, road service vehicles, refuse collection vehicles, petroleum tankers, and mail carrier vehicles may show or display amber lights when in operation or a hazard exists.
(5) Road maintenance and construction equipment and vehicles may display flashing white lights or flashing white strobe lights when in operation and where a hazard exists. Additionally, school buses and vehicles that are used to transport farm workers may display flashing white strobe lights.
With the reputation cops have here in Florida I dont think anybody wants to be a pig. Im not sure what you mean about the bad vibe thing and wanting to be a cop thing. Please clarify!!!
Interesting choice for the strobe video soundtrack...................
Just sayin'
809taino how did you prep the grill for paint? Did you remove the inserts
Yea buddy, removed the insert and washed a few bugs off it. I also removed the emblem. It didn't really look any different. Just looks newer.
Daz00Excursion painted his whole grill recently semi gloss and it looks sweet. Im thinking of doing the same and painting the chrome bumper semi gloss black too. As a matter of fact, I might do it tomorrow. I also polished my head lights with tooth paste and they look new..
