Strobes inside the grill

I returned those round light last nigh after seeing the brightness and decided for leds. I mounted them in the grill after testing in different places. Eventually I will put some under the bumper and some strobe plugs in the blinkers. That's gonna have to wait till I get the head lights.

I started by removing the grill. I wanted then parallel to each other with the Ford emblem in between. I got lucky because On those 2 parallel bars behind the grill I found circular in print from molding the plastic or something. But it turns out they are in the perfect spot to line up the top screws of the bracket. (See pics) I thought the 4 screws for the brackets were a bit small but drywall screws would of looked bad. I opened a few pilot holes and rolled with it and surprisingly they worked out fine.

I ran my power to the light switch (optional) but I might switch it to an independent power line. I ran the wires from the lights over the radiator housing (not making contact with the radiator), throu the side along the quarter panel, throu the firewall and into the light switch.

I then mounted the control under the dash and zipped tide the wires out of view. These are strobe light but can be set stay lit without flash. I plan on adding a few more to the bumper inserts, 4 blinkers and 2 more on the rear window on the top corners.

Running boards and interior leds will go in tomorrow depending what time i get out of work and weather.. Enjoy...

I was surprised to find them at advance auto. They also have the plug strobes for the headlights. They actually have a good selection of lights there. Then again all stores don't carry the same inventory. Check your local auto store and you might be surprised.

Got more strobes for the blinkers

Got the strobes for the blinkers today. I'll be installing tomorrow. I really wanted to install them tonight but I figured it might be a good Idea to do it in daylight. I'll be drilling about a 1/2 inch hole behind the the blinkers and plugging these in. I might plug the front ones in the headlight. Still undecided. I will be getting one more set from ebay that comes with six 3 strobe set for the rear window.. Then I'm done. I do wanna light up the running boards with leds.

Installing the strobes

I was just getting started taking the headlights off to install the plug strobes when that pesky rain cloud decided to show it's ugly end. Not a shower but an annoying drizzle. I'm just sitting here waiting for it to pass. so I can get some work done. I'm gonna see about flipping the tail lights. I read somewhere that it can be done. I'll see.

Installing strobe lights on my excursion

Went ahead and finished the front plug strobes to the head lights and blinkers. I plan on changing these laps out for clear ones soon so I'll be doing this again soon. I got these plugs from advance for $25 and they have 3 patterns with strobe speed adjust dile. Comes with 4 plugs that can be attached any ware. The wires to the right side didn't reach so I had to improvise and add some longer wires to reach pass the firewall.

I started by taking the gill off for better access.

I then went for the 2 clips behind the lamp. I used a thin flat head screw driver to pry the..

I then used a star key to release 2 screws that holds the lamp in it's housing. I disconnected the plug and it came right out.

I drilled a 1/4 inch hole in the plastic away from the bulb but facing forward.

I went ahead and plugged the first of the strobes and without measuring I ended up with a perfect hole. A little tight but better tight than lose. A little silicone and she was all done.

The blinker was way easier since I didn't have to remove it. I plugged it and put some silicone around the edges and that was that.

The revers assembly and the right side was done, No need to show the left side since it's the same procedure. I now have to run the wires thru the firewall and into the control box Then mount it. Almost done. When I'm done I'll be posting a short video.

when you take the headlight out and when you put it back in..do you have to readjust the beams? or that screw you took out with the star key is just to hold the light in place? its not an adjusting screw?
