allright I think I figured out the picture thing, I just uploaded the pics to my profile. hopefullyit work.

this pic is the front passenger side of the throttle body, the two lines marked with red arrows are not on the new engine. I believe the top line connects to a metal tube comming out by the rear of the block. BUT the tube runs through the engine valley and goes into the front of the block.

the bottum line goes to port comming off of the coolant housing on the front of the intake manifold. I think it's just for vacume but could it be for running coolant through it.

here is a closer pic of where the top line is running to.

and here is a pic of the bottum line running to the coolant port.

Thanks.

allright- i should of mentioned before hand that I'm an idiot.lol. I think I figured it out. as for the two hoses running to the throttle body, I think that just happens to be a difference between the different years. the hose that hooks up to the tube in the back of the engine that runs throught the engine valley underneath the intake is the heater box hose, the other heater box hose goes to the front of the motor where the T-spout is capped off for the little hose to run to the throttle body. there is no T-spout in the tube that runs through the engine valley, so that tells me this year engine is designed to run without the two hoses I was questioning.

so I went ahead with everything else and the good news is she started, the bad news is there is a noise that sounds like the flexplate is rubbing on something or maybe one of the bolts from the torque converter is hitting something. it doesn't do it all the time, it does it at start up and again if I rev the engine quickly, but it's dark now so I'm done for the night. I don't know for sure if it's the flexplate or T/C bolts, thats just the first thing that popped into my head. if you guys can think of anything I should be checking in the morning I am all for it.

I'm real close to being done with this project even though the troubleshooting of the noise can be lengthly. Thanks to everyone who has helped me. I have no doubt I would have gon insane and hurt something out of frustration if it wasn't for your help.

thanks.

Congratulations on completing the swap. I suppose the sound could be any number of things. When I did a motor replacement a few years ago on my older f150, there was a similar sound afterward and it turned out to be a thin heat shield on one of the engine mounts. Turns out when I replaced the mounts one of the heat shields slipped out of alignment before I bolted it up and it was rubbing and rattling. Couldn't get at the mount bolts to realign it so I just cut it off. Hopefully your issue is something similar.

well after looking around, it seemed to me that the dust sheild between the engine and tranny was bowed a little, so I took that one out and put in the one that was on my old engine, looking at them on the ground side by side the one that came with the replacement motor was deffinitly bowed, so I installed the old one and was realy optamistic it would be the problem, I get everything put back together and the noise is still there. it really sounds like it's comming from that area. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. not sure what to do with it if I cant figure it out.

Thanks for all the help on this project, it's deffinitly appreciated.

My experience on other automatics says yes. But if you don't replace both the torque converter and the oil pump seal on the tranny you'll get a nasty little drip. Redi sleeves work (I hear). Never used one tho.
