Ok so I need to take the two fuel lines off the rear of my engine (taking the engine out).
They have two (1 big/1 small) couplers behind the motor, one to the fuel rail and one to the FPR that need to be disconnected. I know you need a special tool to remove the lines, is that tool only available from ford (I ahve the # for it) or can I use a tool from another store?
Any tips or special techniques in helping me remove these lines once the pressure is bled?
You don't need to buy the tool from Ford.....any parts store will have it. Too bad you aren't closer to me....I'd let you borrow mine
It's been a few years since I had to mess w/ those lines. The set I have is called a spring lock coupler release tool. I think there are 5 different sizes in the set I have...Red,Blue,Black,White and Yellow.
Can I make a suggestion???
Replace the FPR while you have easy access to it. It's a real PITA to do in the truck.
Spray a generous amount of WD-40 or other penetrating lubricant on the fuel fittings and let it sit for an hour or so. I sprayed mine and let it sit over night. The next day I pulled them apart with the plastic separator with very little effort.
I also pulled the fuel line off of the fuel filter and drained the excess fuel out of the line and into a glass jar to help minimize the mess.
I pulled my motor and tranny together and I pulled rails and tied them back and the compressor. I left the Alt and the air pump on also. You dont have to pull everything off just top ull the motor.
