I'm about to buy a new TV----replacing another I bought brand new in 1980 or so!
Needless to say all this new technology requires a bit of jumping in with both feet---have to arm myself against all the techno-babble I know I'll get from commissioned sales droids.
Who else is about to dive into a new technology pool?
I'm going to eventually, this computer of mine is getting mighty slow and going to run out of support in a couple months. I'm sure it will be another learning curve too.

One of these days I will upgrade my computer, bought mine used a while back. I remember hearing good things about windows XP.
I'm running 7 pro.
Neighbor across the street just installed 8.1 in a Sony Vaio dual core.
He likes it.
I trust his opinion as he has been writing code for decades.
I get all my good stuff from him.
I'm going to have him install 8.1 in my Toshiba that's running Vista.
I'm going to pull the hard drive to save what's on it and install a new one.
Windows 8.1 is not too bad if you have a touch screen.
Windows 7 and 7 pro are a jump right out of xp. You will actually be able to do more easier.
If you can buy a computer with 7 loaded in it, you will be fine.
I would be looking to buy soon though, there will be very few left by the end of the year
