well get in the truck this morning and started to work. got about 15 to 20 minutes down the road and the batt light came on. looked at my SCT TSX and it was showing 11.3 volts. o sh** turn around and get back to the house. i turned everthing off that i could, radio heated seats high beams fog lights. thien i was shoing about 11.7 volts. well that tells me my alternator is gone.
my question is, for you that have replaced yours what did you go with. where, brand, price and also amps too?
i have the single system on a 06 f350 lariat.
from what i have looked at on line. looks like its going to be about $200 for a 110 amp remain unit.
I bought a 140 amp for a 99 f250. Got a 10 dollar adapter from ebay. I run at 14.3-14.7 voltage now. There is a long thread on here that will give you all the details. I don't have the link to it.
Blade35 knows what he's talkin about, DCpower engineering is where its all at. Best alternators u can get. I also bought a 190 amp alternator from them. Definitely worth the extra money.

There is also a 230 amp Leece/Neville or Prestolite that is plug and play with 6.0's. I agree with others, even the 140 amp are not really sufficient amd something over 185 amps is better. To the OP, I realize that getting one of these DC power or Prestolites is not as feasible when ordering with a dead alternator, but if Hubert is a way to swing it, it would be a better option in the long run. You may be able to go to am international dealer and pick up a prestolite of the shelf with their warranty through international. That's what I did.
