HPFP failures

Bob.
Twice now you have posted that GM uses the same HPFP pump, and that they have had failures as well.
I asked the first time for details, as I have not been able to find any. That first thread was closed, and now so has the second before I could ask again.

I was not aware that GM and Ford used the same pump. Is it excactly the same? How do you now this? Perhaps it is the same base model but built to different specs?

It is important that these facts be accuarate, if we are to get to the root cause of the problem.

I want to know just where the GM HPFP pump failures have been reported, and is it the same EXCACT pump that Ford is using.

I have not been able to find any reports on the GM LML. If it does indeed use the same EXCACT pump, and is NOT having failures, then all that one needs to do is look at where the rest of the fuel systems differ to find the cause.

If they use the EXACT same pump and ARE having failures, then both the Ford AND GM owners have a common problem and need to find out what it is to solve it.
Brand rivalry should be set aside as both groups share info and attempt to find the cause.

Here's a ref I found to pump failures:
2011 Injector Pump failure - Chevy and GMC Duramax Diesel Forum

It's pretty well documented all over the place that the LML Duramax and Ford 6.7 are using the Bosch CP4.2.

I read that ENTIRE thread.
Although GM replaced the HPFP, it turned out that wasn't the problem.
The truck continued acting up and led to this:

Well here it is: The FILTER VACUUM SENSOR was the culprit. And GM has released a service bulletin to all dealers regarding this issue. So im back on the road again! 5800 miles on the ticker. Just had my first service done as well. Oil, Filter, Tire rotation and DEF fill up

There was one other new poster (likely a troll) that was saying his ENTIRE fuel system was being replaced.

This was refuted by the GM techs on the site.

So if they do use the same components, then a look at the differences should shed some light on the issue. Or perhaps it was just a fluke? Kinda weird at that milage. Such a failure could be expected at low milage from a defect, or high from wear.

35,000......strange

Ok I want to learn something here (HPFP's) so lets try not to get this topic locked, too.

I respect Rick and I hate how he is being treated by Ford because of the first crappy dealer and the whole situation is crappy but he said he'll update us when he has news he feels like sharing.

3,200 miles with a pump failure sure is early.

Does anyone know if the 2012 6.7L is using a revised pump or exactly the same?
