Congrats on the possible job Trey, keep us posted.

Mmmm... roller derby girls. The ones that don't look like dudes who've taken a beating... are kinda hot... pics are always appreciated.

Can't remember if I've posted since then, but made it back to the east coast. Couldn't resist rolling across the scales (managed to resist until we got close to home... for the purposes of plausible deniability) to find out that the 250 was loaded to a grvw of just over 23k. The 7.3 ran like a champ up through the mountains in TX... short of blowing an IC boot off a couple times. Didn't even slow down if I kept my foot into it. Gotta love the 80 mph speed limit in west TX too.... Starting to wonder if I might have gotten something a bit hot on a couple of those heavy pulls... only let the egt's really spike bad one time... but been getting just a tiny bit of smoke since then. Going to start tracking it down this week.

Haven't had the laptop on in a couple weeks - started to miss you guys so I had to drop in and say Hi!

Glad you just had a small problem (if you had to have one at all).
And yes, 80 mph is a wonderful thing.
Howdy back atchya.

23k is a lot

Glad you had a safe trip Rob. What part of Fla are you in? Did the dog travel well?

Trey,

What ever happened to the "high-bank-ovals" on which they used to skate? Too expensive to build 'em today?

That concrete has to be a lot harder on which to fall than the plywood surface that used-to-be.

How do they put an opponent off the track, over the rail?

“Whoa, Nellie!”

My guess would be $$$. Its a fairly low budget operation.

Since I noticed the "grandstand seating" in your fuzzy photo, and the wildly cheering crowds thereon, I figured they were making the bucks hand-over-fist there!

I musta' was wrong!

For a real laugh, take a gander at what some of the girls' names are:

Some of them are REAL innovative! "Peekaboo ICU", "G$" (must be a programmer), "Emma J. Walker", and "Half Nelson Rockefeller" are some examples.

Got a new toy last night. Moto Xoom. Runs off WiFi around the house, tethered to phone on the road. GPS, full browser, stunning display, super thin and light, 10.1" touch screen.Pretty much makes a laptop obsolete. I have to integrate this into the truck.

Half-a-grand for toys is getting harder to come by now-a-days, but I'll put it on my Christmas list.

Just how do you incorporate it into a truck, anyway? Enlarge the radio opening?

I'm not sure yet Pop, but when I do, it should be really cool.

They do make good money, but the expenses are high. Before I started volunteering it would cost $50/hr for an EMT to sit there.

So you're putting another EMT out of a GOOD-paying job?

How does HE feel about that?

He was a Paramedic, and hes not out of a job. The $50/hr went to the local ambulance company to send the supervisor to sit at the rink for a few hours.

I'd bet he wasn't sitting there out of the goodness of his heart, though, and his bank account hasn't as much as it would have had.

Christmas is coming......

I dont think it has been affecting him that much.. He would be on duty anyway, just at his station or responding to supervise on calls. He brings his supervisor vehicle to the game and go back to normal duty after. They call it a "detail." I hear them all the time on my radio. Basically they just move ambulances around to fill in a gap while the unit is on a detail.

There's a roller-derby place down here in HB, and I think they have the banked oval. A family friend's daughter does it so maybe we'll check it out sometime.
