That sure is long. Howd they stretch the side trim?
It looks like station wagon trim. The piece on the rear quarter could be easily be two pieces joined together. A person who can TIG could weld two pieces together.

Some TIG welding and some time polishing.
We eliminated the fuel door on the side of a 58 Packard. Two pieces of trim crossed the door. We found some donor trim pieces and welded in the missing sections and polished it out.
I wish I had some pics handy.

I was looking through my local craigslist this morning and had to take a double look at this and thought I was seeing something I had to wipe my eyes and take a second look. It's a car that the man said he built for a gay parade.
You'd probably appreciate some type of power assist for the steering on a rig like that. Parallel parking would probably be a bear though even with power steering.

Monster trucks have hydrolic steering using an orbital valve attatched to the wheel with a massive hydrolic pump attached to the crank (usually). They actually have the opposite problem, where there's zero steering feel whatsoever as you're just turning a tiny valve entirely disconnected from the axle.
On a similar note, the digger people just finished a replica of Digger 1 in blue and silver. The real #1 is also halfway restored with a repainted bottom half, new shocks, leafs etc. There were pictures of it with a new motor in it but that appears to have gone again. Not sure what's going on with old Grandma.

It was a car built to be the world's biggest car in the 70's. Someone took it upon themselves to restore it recently for some reason. Useless as it ever was.

yup. same system as large farm tractors and heavy equipment like articulated loaders. you do not feel if you hit anything in the steering wheel because it is not connected to the steering box. all done with hydraulics and valves.

I didn't read the whole thing, but this appeared in a Steppenwolf album.....
