Yeah typical government! They wait til the last second to send me somewhere and where the cost of the flight is triple normal, since its like the day before I leave haha.
Nah! I bet he had a bunch of leave stacked up and had to take it or lose it....
A job like that where you get all the road time you want regardless? The cycling makes a lot of sense - you can slow down enough to see what you're passing!
*I noticed that. Even on a motorcycle you can't get as close to the country as on a bike - cycling you can even SMELL it!!!
I met a bunch of people stopping along the way too.
So far today the bike has stayed put.
I got G1 down on all fours again, but have 99% decided to build a V8 and only tinker with the 2.3 as a curiouosity.
If I had one of the 351's done already I'd never have been in the pits this long.
So today I found a stock intake (4Bbl) and it's a whole new list of priorities
Too different a league, shippy. But thanx fer the invite!
Even my old tourer would be left in the dust
My style is based on more like shear obnoxious ruggedness than lightness and speed, in a phrase;
"I prefer to spend more time riding it than fixing it"
You guys are all about high speed and lo drag... You think in ounces what I think in pounds!
WHAT does the new bike weigh again?
*Just for fun I grabbed a scale and went out to my Hardrock. 37 pounds...
Now think of it this way: In the best of situations how far would you want to go carrying a 37 pound backpack?
Greywolf's Second Principle of Bicycling: "The bicycle is also carrying the bicycle..."
Oh side note......Chief didnt show up, so I went alone with some pretty knarly head winds. I was just about spent around 38 miles and called it the day. Stupid humidity and heat index of 106ish bonked me out bad. I was wondering if I could make it home....however my average mph was around 22.8 and top speed of 39.5.
