I'm not sure our fore fathers had any idea what our country would be like 235 years later and with all the politics at play...I'm not sure they would approve of that aspect of it...but one thing is for sure...we ARE the GREATEST country in the world and I am PROUD to say I am an AMERICAN!!!
God Bless the USA and THANK YOU to all those that have fought to earn and keep our freedoms!
I, on the other hand, am dealing with some minor injuries. Yes, yes, what a way to spend independence day....laying down in pain. Well the early morning ride turned into a pretty knarly crash. Flying down one of the back roads around 5am, running 25mph or so, I slammed a huge log that was in the middle of the road. It flipped me instantly onto my head and I slide for about 20 feet into a ditch. Not remembering anything, as I experienced a minor concussion, I look up to see my buddy towering over me asking if I was ok. Well I couldnt move for atleast 5 mins as it knocked out the breath out of me. Finally coming to, I limp over to a nearby church to assess damages. Well the bikes didnt fair too bad and we bit the bullet and rode back home (12 miles) instead of waking anyone up. Road rash from my shoulder to my buttocks, elbow thrashed and back is Extremely sore, and I am living to tell about it. However my helmet did its job, shattered in pieces but saved my noggin!
Scott...HOLY COW BROTHER...I'm glad you are okay...well mostly...
The things that aren't should either heal (your concussion and road rash) or are replaceable (helmet and shirt).
As a note...make sure you absolutely CLEAN that road rash as people die from infections from it all the time...make sure you wash it and put antiobiotic ointment on it...you may want to also to see the doc to get an antiobiotic shot...seriously...don't mess around with the possibilities from the after effects of getting staff or something in your body...
Glad you are mostly okay my friend and thankfully you were wearing your helmet!
Having been laid out on the ground before looking UP at someone looking DOWN on you asking "are you okay?"...man that brings back memories...the lady that stopped for me actually had her head illuminated around the edges by the sun at her back (like a halo)...to this day I call her my guardian angel!...because she truly was!
Good luck my friend...and please get that road rash taken care of...you should be out here in SoCal with me surfing...water doesn't hurt so bad...although the coral underneath does and has the same effects as road rash...if not worse from a staff perspective since the coral is a living entity!!!
Thanks Joe, I am doing ok but still experiencing some dizziness and feel like throwing up. They gave me some stuff to help that out. I took a hot shower afterwards scrubbing all the wounds. It was tough to get my shoulder and back but the wife helped me out.
The sun was the reasoning missing the log, as it was coming up slowly and giving a glow about the land.
I wish I were in Caily, as I miss the nice surf......bust a mondo tube for me mate!
