Been a couple good days over here in PHS world. We have been on the ball lately and been cutting our on-site times down by nearly 1/2 of what they used to be.
We demo-ed a shed yesterday. Our on-site time was about one hour. Took about 20 min to haul all the crap out of it from the back yard to the truck then 20 mins or so to knock the thing down. 20 mins later we had the load secured, check in hand and were on our way. We finished so fast that we had to wait for the customer, who was at work, to come home. Only waited about 5 mins until she arrived.
Today we had a job up in Newbury Park, where a "Owner/Builder" (as our county calls them) was adding an extension onto his house using his porch as the foundation. We were tasked with removing and hauling away all of the stucco and siding that was on the house before the extension. Of course he just through all the insulation, stucco and wood NEXT to the tarp he laid down.. Had to go back to Ventura after we gave him his quote to get our trailer. Shoulda brought it the first time.
After that we headed to Westlake to pick up a small amount of household debris from a previous customer. Nothing but boxes and some moth-eaten rugs.
Total time on the clock; 5 hours. ~150 miles. Including a dump run this morning to get ready for today.
Tomorrow we are headed over to a property to demo a bathroom and pull up all the carpets. We are taking it to the baseboards and studs in the bathroom. The job is for a fellow named Timmy Curran. Hes a retired professional surfer, and a musician (can be found on iTunes. Not bad music) who flips houses. We have worked with him before and he keeps coming back because of how fast we work. This guy flips houses in a matter of days. Typical time for turn-around on a property for him is 2-3 weeks!
The property was transferred to them this afternoon. They get the keys 10am tomorrow and we will be in at 11am and hopefully out by 4pm. Contractors should be coming in Monday.
David (Davewave649) is my right-hand man. He is more than earning his raise that he got at the beginning of the summer. We work well together, and often dont have to finish our sentences before the other is already done with what we were gonna ask them to do. But that comes with knowing someone 11 years.

Where do you live in relation to the closure, are you north or south of the closure... if you are south have him Check ABC7.com they have up to the minute detour info.
I am west of LA. Thanks to the FTE map, I am roughly 61 miles west of you.
I kinda noticed, a lot of SoCal FTE members are close together, and then there are several that are far away...
ya might want to re-check that heading just a bit!

"26 miles across the sea, Santa Catalina is awaitin' for me, Santa Catalina...the island of...romance...romance...romance...romance." -The Four Preps.
But west of Catalina...there is nothin' but ocean. So y'all couldn't reside 61 miles west of 'seizure world' .. unless you were livin' on a "leaky rowboat."

This weekend is the Fireman's Muster in Virginia City,NV. for anyone that wants to come.
I guess that other F.D.'s come from all over the US to participate in this?!Hope to see you there!
