Boy...today's turning out to be a real disaster. So far it's been a fail trifecta.
1) Go to Norwalk Power Equipment to pick up new carburetor for mower. Not in stock (said it was, but...)...ordered...will be in next Wednesday.
2) Street sweeping day, so I pull the '94 in the driveway. Decide to give the battery a charge while it's there, since it hasn't been driven much lately. Can't get hood open.
3) Begin install of new shocks (you're right Bill...those fronts are a real PITA). Go to install driver's side front shock...too long, and bottom portion is too wide to fit in cradle. I'm going to call the guy and verify the numbers...it's supposed to be for a 2" level.
They're both the same. I just didn't get any further than the driver's side.
I actually picked these up, so I'm going to talk to the guy that ordered them for me when he gets back into the store to verify the #s and be sure it's what I asked for.
Will be interesting to see how that works out, correct number, etc.
I don't really think you need the extended version for the level kit, if your kit is the spacer style like yours. I think most guys keep their stock shocks when they install the spacers, so stock aftermarket should work too.
I wonder if the ones you got are intended for use with a spring lift kit?
The metal bushing on the bottom portion being too long is nothing a grinder can't fix, but I wouldn't expect to have to do something like that on what I consider to be a high priced component.

Well, the guy at the store and his distributor insist that I've got the correct shocks. The difference in compressed length between the stock replacement and the "leveled" shock is only a little over 1 inch so they should work. I'll try unloading the axle to install them. Still going to have to take a grinder to the bottom bushing though. I informed them both of this and the distributor said he'd take them back if they didn't work so he must be pretty confident. I'm going to have to do a little thinking on how to raise the frame safely though. I'm sure I can come up with something.
