I replied in the BS section, but I'll go over it again in here.
I don't think the timing cover has enough material to make strong threads in. I see what you're trying to do, but don't think it's a good idea. I would drill the hole the correct size, but a 1/4 to a 1/2" deeper. Run a tap down there so it's the same size as stock. Then use a longer bolt. That way it appears stock to anyone looking and still does the job of sealing the leak. Just be careful to not drill so deep that you run into an oil gallery or out the back of the block. Reassemble using red loctite on the bolt and ultra copper silicone on all the gaskets. I bet it works out just fine.
I guess, as long as it didn't hit the chain or sprockets. I still think drilling the factory hole deeper is a better idea. It takes a LOT more leverage to seal a leak from one side as it does straight through the middle.
As Alan was fixing my block today I could not wait to post it on here! but then we realized half the people that read my build thread were there in the shop as it was happing!
got the water pump on. but....... Are new bolt hole don't line up. so as I was putting it on with a lot of ATV I broke the bolt off next to the now missing bolt? Im going to let it dry over night fill it with water and see what happens? __________________

Now that car is dead need it on road as daily driver!
I drove the bronco home last night, and to church today! this thing is tough as a mule! way low geared, my be looking in to a 5 speed swap! going to go Finsh up a few things!
But still way cheaper than a new one, them things are $$$$. Fastenall can get almost what ever you need, or get new hdwr from the "Best top" company itself??
Or who ever made it, I am sure there is a manufacturing name on it some where?
