This is all based on the PCM being programmed for the stock nozzles on a split-shot injector. You then have to take the volume of the fuel and factor the RPMs and MPH into the equation. So, you would have a calculation of the RPM times the MPH divided by the MFD or VFD to get MPG - for just that instant.

In order to get a MPG average, you have to talk to the overhead - a different module (again, if so-equipped). You would then have the same bogus number I have on the overhead, so it would need an attitude adjustment anyway.

Now... with all that, even if I wanted to use a calculation that somebody worked out, it does me no good at all: I have custom injectors, so I have to rework the formulas on the MFD and VFD.

If anybody finds any part of this in error, I welcome the feedback.
The Overhead Trip Computer on my 2000 7.3L is fuel tank size aware (which can be changed), and has inputs from the fuel level sensor and the fuel pump, according to the service manual.

I thought this was going to be awesome for the price, but if it's a pain in the a## I will gladly spend the money to get a dedicated scanner/reader. I don't want to spend hours of my already sparse free time trying to get something to work...
I have this on my Droid Razr and my Galaxy Note2. Both work extremely well. When I have had issues, I reboot the phone and it has cleared up. I have also pulled the bluetooth adapter out of the OBDII and tried again and it works. These are all simple things to try and take care of most problems associated with the communication between the two devices.

Yes I have the Ford PIDs. The PID for the oil temp for example is not the same as what's listed in this thread, and it won't let me change it. When I go to "edit" on the PID, it works in the test function numerically, but it won't work on the gauge display...

And yes I have rebooted my phone and that has no effect. If I delete the App and re-install, do I pay again??

No whatever site you download through recognizes it as already paid for.

I've been distracted by many things lately, but here are some of the PIDs that have proven accurate so far.

Critical Note:

Never ever add a gauge while connected with the engine running... no matter who sent the configuration. The data can have an error or a typo in it, so it's best to set up your gauge off-line, then connect to the truck KOEO after everything is set correctly (to the best of your knowledge). No data or the truck freaks out? Delete that gauge (but keep the PID in the list) until it can be resolved.

I got bit a few times while playing with the *****, so I felt it best to pass that on.

Fuel Injector Pulse Width
Short Name: FIPW
PID: 221410
Units: ms
Max/Min: 6.0/0.0
Equation: ((A*256+B)*.008

Manifold Absolute Pressure
Short Name: MAP
PID: 221440
Units: PSI
Max/Min: 50.0/0.0 (stock) 60.0/0.0 (modified)
Equation: ((A*256)+B)*0.03625

Manifold Gauge Pressure
Short Name: Boost
PID: 221440
Units: PSI
Max/Min: 30.0/0.0 (stock) 40.0/0.0 (modified)
Equation: (((A*256)+B)*0.03625)-BARO()

Exhaust Back Pressure (Absolute)
Short Name: EBPA
PID: 221445
Units: PSI
Max/Min: 50.0/0.0 (stock) 60.0/0.0 (modified)
Equation: ((A*256)+B)*0.03625

Exhaust Back Pressure (Gauge)
Short Name: EBPG
PID: 221445
Units: PSI
Max/Min: 30.0/0.0 (stock) 40.0/0.0 (modified)
Equation: (((A+256)+B)*0.03625)-BARO()

Injector Control Pressure
Short Name: ICP
PID: 221446
Units: PSI
Max/Min: 3000.0/0.0 (stock) 4000.0/0.0 (modified)
Equation: ((A*256)+B)*.57
**You will see barometric pressure KOEO

Injector Pressure Regulator
Short Name: IPR
PID: 221434
Units: %
Max/Min: 100.0/0.0
Equation: A*0.39063

Torque Converter Slip
Short Name: Slip
PID: 221b8
Units: RPM
Max/Min: Max 500.0/0.0
Equation: ((A*256)+B)*0.6103
**I use this max for the sake of spotting slip, but the reading will peg to the right and give a high reading when Torque Converter is not locked. Torque Converter will not lock until Transmission Temp exceeds about 50 - 60 degrees F.

Transmission Fluid Temperature
Short Name: TFT
PID: 221674
Units: °F
Max/Min: 250.0/0.0
Equation: ((A*256)+B)/8

Engine Oil Temperature
Short Name: EOT
PID: 221310
Units: °F
Max/Min: 250.0/0.0
Equation: (((A*256)+B)/100)-40
**You're in for a shock when you compare this with that feeble temp gauge on the dash.

Transmission Gear
Short Name: Gear
PID: 2211b3
Units: Gear
Max/Min: 4/0
Equation: A/2

This is the same eq I have in my pre-defined Ford custom PIDs that I downloaded-

Equation: (((A*256)+B)/100)-40

It only works when you go to "edit" then "test". It shows the oil temp numerically, but when I add the gauge to the gauge display page it's just dead- no reading....

so how do you get those "custom" PIDs to activate???

I would also like to activate the FICM voltage because my co-workers truck is having problems...

Was playing around today and found that you can do math with multiple PIDs. If you want to see delta oil/coolant temp directly try the following:

OBD2 Mode: --Leave Blank--
Name: deltaTemp
Min/Max = +/-30
Scale: x1
Unit: degF
Equation: (([221310]*1.8)+32)-(([05]*1.8)+32)
OBD header: --Leave Blank--

For some reason it would not work if I tried to subtract the PIDs directly and then convert.

Thanks for the information. I wouldn't think a multi byte PID values would simply subtact? Have to add this to my wish list

No way! That's exactly what I've been wanting to do with Torque. Thanks!

I had a problem when using the Extended PIDs (Ford Powerstroke). I went to settings, Manage extra PIDs/Sensors, Add Predefined set, and chose Ford (Including Powerstroke).

I went to the Realtime Information button, added about 8 gauges, some of which were the Extended PIDs. Well, the gauges worked ok. I drove home watching FICM, Volts (CM), EOT, and Gear. But when I tried again later that day, FICM voltage, Volts (CM), and EOT no longer work for monitoring. When I go to add another gauge, those numbers don't show up.

I rebooted the phone, no joy. I unplugged and replugged the ELM 327 and no difference. I have the Torque Pro App, so I wonder if I should ask the App developer what went wrong?

The Load, Gear, RPM, and Coolant temp gauges still function. But I need oil temp and FICM voltage!
