BTW nice forum!

This one was fun!!!!!! Its converted into GPH instead of mm^3 per sec.

Volume Fuel Desired
221411
VFD
0.0
50.0
x.1
GPH (gallons per hour)
((((((A*256)+B)*(100/16)/10)*8)*3600)*3785411.78)
AUTO
I have a 2002 7.3 6-speed manual and have been playing with Torque quite a bit. I have a little knowledge to share.

I believe the formula for VFD has an error in it. I reads:
((((((A*256)+B)*(100/16)/10)*8)*3600)*3785411.78)

I believe the correct should be ...3600)/3785411.78)
Look at the division if you don't see the bolding.

For ECT, I am using PID 221139. Formula is (A/2)+127. This is a 2 step reading. It is only accurate above 127 F. Below that, you have to subtract 127 to get the correct temp. Is a fluke of the data from the PCM

I believe I have found the PID for the manual tranny temp. PID 221674, unit is degrees C, equation is ((A*256)+B)/8.

Barometric Pressure- PID 221442, PSI, (((A*256)+B)*290/80)/100

Engine Oil Temp is working great with the following info
PID 221310, degrees F, ((((A*256)+B)/100)-40)*(9/5)+32

I thought I'd add these, since I don't see too many ppl with this engine/tranny combo that have posted much.

Sorry if some of this is a rehash or resurrection of a old thread, but I thought some could use this info.

I'm new to this site and have found it to be so useful. I wanted to thank everyone for your input and sharing all the knowledge and experience. I just got my Torque App to work and being new I can't seem to get my EGT guage on the app to work. Does anyone know how this pid should read?

i don't think it will unless you have a factory egt probe, which no 6.0 ever had. maybe a 6.4 dunno bout those

Your post was the only place I found the solution to coolant temp measuring. I put a link to it in my post in the Torque forum.

I have a 2000 PSD.

Your VFD and Barometric pressure equations...help me understand why those are important? Maybe they play into the calculation of fuel consumption?

My Torque gauges seem to think that I go thru diesel about 50% faster than I really do. Haven't figure that out yet.

I'm not sure how Torque figures MPG. I know that changing the volumetric efficiency changes the MPG reading. Changing my volumetric efficiency setting to 100% makes the mileage calculations more accurate to what I see in real life. VE varies with boost- 100% is the number I found on a post somewhere at something like 6-10psi which is around what I run on the highway so I use that.

VFD and BP- I don't think they are important. I just ran across them and started playing. VFD doesn't seem really accurate for me. Before changing the multiply to divide, I was getting huge numbers, like 12 million. Now. at least it's reasonable- like 1.5 gal/hour at idle (but still seems high)

PID: 22139
Long Name: Engine Coolant Temp
Short Name: ECT
Min: 0
Max: 255
Scale: x1
Unit Type: *F
Eq: (A/2)+127
OBD Header: Auto

Note- For temps below 127*, you subtract 127 from displayed value. Above 127*F, value is correct. Example: If cooalant temp is 95*, display will show 222*F (95+127).

I'm not sure which of the 2 you need to use. Try both Transmission Gear and Transmission Gear Method 2.

Here is how they are entered in the Ford list:

2211b3
Short name= gear
min=0.0
max=6.0
scale= x1
unit= gear
equation = A/2
OBD HEADER= AUTO

The above is method 1

The only difference in the method 2 is this:

OBD HEADER = TCM

Everything else is the same.

Try each.

I am not near my truck at this time to see which I am using, but it does work on my 6.0 with the torqshift tranny.

Thanks for the info Mike.

But now my cheap POS elm 327 won't connect to the ECU.
Any tips to make it connect?

Check the fuse for the obd II PORT. It also powers one of the power ports on the dash. Had that problem with mine once or twice.

Will look but the elm 327 has a red light showing it has power but none of the other lights (green and yellow) are flashing.
