I went to use my wipers the other day during a quick rain storm, and they did not work. The washer pump is also not working.
I checked the fuses, and they are all good. When you turn the wipers on, you can hear a relay click under the hood. You can also hear a relay click when you apply the washer squirter.
I checked the harness that connects to the wiper motor and the contacts are clean.
My question is, what would cause both systems to stop working at the exact same moment?
This is my work vehicle so not being able to work in the rain is going to be tough.
Chased a similiar issue (2002 F-350 7.3) until I gave up and took it to a dealer. I changed the wiper motor, control switch on the steering column, took the dash out looking for relay and it was a ground wire out on the driverside inner fender (found by the dealer).
What does the GEM control besides the wipers? Keep in mind, my truck is totally stripped. No power windows, no power locks.
I also noticed that my headlights are somewhat dim. When you put on the high beams, the blue light on the dash does not light up unless you pull on the switch to flash to pass.
there are electronic relays built in the motor. My connectors and cables too did not look corroded but that is where they found the issue. i also replaces the column switch and wiper motor to no avail. GEM is the Plug type used in our vehicles
sorry for the delay as i got home late last night. there is a bank of 5 connectors on the inside driverside fender the second from the front is the one they replaced.

I looked at mine today. There are 4 connectors in a bank.
I unplugged them all one at a time until the wiper motor relay no longer clicked. The connector closest to the firewall was the one that seems to control the wipers. There is zero corrosion on either side of the connector. Still has dialectric grease inside, and in good condition.
they said wires were corroded going into the the connector. anyhow i would check connectivity on each side of the connector with a meter, find one that can either reach thru the back side or poke thru the insulation to touch the wire. It may not be your particular problem but was mine. unfortunately i got tired of troubleshooting mine and just took it in. Cost me alot but it works. Good luck and let us know what fixed it.
My wipers stoped working.....after check all the fuses...i open the hood and the grill where the wipers motor is...and hear the litle click on the wipers motor when i turn the switch....with the number 8 socket i turn the screw by the wipers arm on top the motor......that makes the armas moves back and foward.....i lubricated the joints and that back to work.....maybe you dont need to remove the grill ...you can fit the socket thu the rill and acsses the #8 screw
