This is true, but, 4 "cheap" tires instead of 6. For us insurance on the vehicle covers the trailer too (no separate insurance). Registration is $25 for the trailer compared to $75+ (might be more) for a vehicle. I have yet to put brakes on any of my trailers (electric), but I remember brake lines, master cylinder and other odd things going bad on my grandparents camper. Dead battery on a trailer, oh well, plug the genny in or plug the trailer into the truck. Dead battery on a motor home, find someone with jumper cables.
Like mentioned though different things work for different situations and people. For me I got to see whats involved with a motor home (and their 4-8mpg). In the 10ish years I owned my trailer I only installed batteries and tires. I like that!
Nope. Dead battery on a motorhome, there is a magic switch to bridge the house batteries with chassis batteries. Starts right up. Have a genny too..

Different strokes for different folks. The units we've looked at all have new tires, shocks, batteries and many of the nickel and dime things done which is nice. But that said crap happens. Registration and insurance are not a biggie and I get the same 8 MPG towing my travel trailer with either my F-150 or Excursion that this motorhome would get. We had a 460 Class A 34' before and it got around the same MPG so we've been down this road before.
I'll still have my trailer, for the times I want to use it. That said I can see myself using the motorhome a lot more!
And yes the switch to bridge the coach batteries and chassis battery saved me once or twice before on our old motorhome!
Drag a vehicle behind the MH for a forth option Russ!
Typically when we camp it's in the middle of nowhere so no reason to drive anywhere. But if I was to go to another town and want to use it for a base I have discussed borrowing or renting a car trailer and taking the Chrysler 300C with us
Beautiful day at the campsite... spent time with the wife & granddaughter...
Unfortunately during prep the evening before I discovered cracks in the sidewalls of my 2013 tires... time for replacement.
Having read a lot about China blowout specials, I took a chance and spent extra (cheaper than fixing the trailer from blowout damage) on the relatively new Goodyear Endurance.... load E & N speed rating (87 mph).

Cute Granddaughter and fine looking weather in that picture!
You are now the second FTE member who has posted about getting the new GY Endurance ST tires. Here is a thread over in the Towing Forum where ssunit1 just mounted a set on his 5er. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...f-reading.html
Please keep updating everyone here on how they perform over the long haul, it's great to see some made in the USA options coming back into this market. I just upgraded the tires (and more....) on our TT and had looked at the Endurance tires but there was virtually no internet feedback on them yet so in the end I went with the all steel Sailun S637s which have earned a great reputation in the RV world. I hope the new GYs turn out to be as good as everyone is hoping they will be!

We didn't have that switch on our old motorhome. Everything just ran off the two under hood batteries.
I remember it was like clockwork, turn water on and lights would dim out real bad and someone would say "uh oh". Dig out the jumper cables and find someone/something to jump the camper. Then we would sit there with the motor running for an hour to charge the batteries.
Camper #1 has a couple, camper #2 has a couple with 2 teenagers and camper #3 (ours) has Twitch and his wife and two little guys along with me and my Bride. It was raining at dinner time, so we made room for all 12 of us to comfortably sit and eat a great dinner all together in our TT. Had a great time with a bunch of great folks!
Put 3 people in our TT and you can't move without bumping someone. lol
Thanks Andy, it is very roomy and comfortable, we love it!

Oh no, every time I sit at the same table with Twitch he starts playing footsie with me, he is very frisky! That's our buddy Dale sitting across from Twitch, I'm back in the corner taking the picture (where I'm safe from Twitch!).
