Carb's not stock, and looks like an AFB. Electric chokes aren't a bad way to go, especially since what you're eliminating is kinda' maintenance-problematic to begin with.
Both oil filter adapters were used, horizontal and vertical, depending on the engine's application.
In both cases, the oil passages through the adapter (as well as the block) were a bit on the too-small side, and a good "mod" was to drill them larger.
The guy is using a PH8A, too. Probably doesn't know any better. My FEs always had red filters (good ol' B2s) on 'em.
A motorcraft "big cap" and rotor, along with some split-loom would go a long ways, cheaply, to making that ol' FE look even nicer.
Liberal amounts of Blue silicone were applied to the front (and probably rear) intake manifold pieces. I'd say the intake/carb were a kit from Edelbrock. Just a hunch
Man, I must be one STUPID *** SCHMUCK ! I've been using PH8A's for many yrs with thousands and thousands of miles on these motors with not one problem. I sure am glad you pointed out this terrible mistake I've been making all these yrs. You really have saved my ***. I can't thank you enough.

Go bright on ahead, use the FE passengercar vertical oil filter adapter (COAZ-6881-A) instead of the correct F100/350 FE horizontal type (C5TZ-6881-A). But guess what?
If the left rubber insulator happens to break (so what else is new?), the bottom of the oil filter will hit the engine cross member, splitting it open. Not pleasant.
Red oil filter: B7A-6731-A replaced by red oil filter: C1AZ-6731-A (Auto-Lite FL-1).
In 1965, FoMoCo introduced the "Quality Twins" Oil Filters & their own brand of engine oil, came in gold cans (canned by Texaco!), so now the C1AZ-6731-A filter was also gold.
C1AZ-6731-A gold oil filter replaced by white oil filter: D9AZ-6731-A (Motorcraft FL-1A).
Would'ja like a treatise on the 3 different FE dizzy caps? There ain't a big one, all were the same size.

'66 by the grille and fender emblems, wrong hubcaps (1967), mickey-mouse antenna installed on the wrong side of the cowl panel. Over chromed engine from lawd only knows what unknown origin.
If push came to shove, I'd take the 'cornbinder' in the background over this modded to death Ford.
