Bill I'm gonna knock off ribbing you now, because I know once you start typing out your resume' you're getting all wound up. Just trying to have a little fun.
Thanks Pop. I had not idea the Cal plates changed that much over the years. . Never really thought that much about it. I still have the gold on black on my 65' -50002W. Again,,, the reason i asked if there was a point to the letter in the front of the #'s apposed the behind. Maybe not. I was aware of some of the specialty plates - disabled, CMH, gold star, Purple Heart, Purple heart motorcycle, POW, ------. Just never knew the plate itself changed that much. Both my plates are showing a LOT of wear. I was thinking about sending them off to a place that restores em. Makes them look new again. What do you guys think about plate restoring?
Or in Europe a tudor saloon. And who put the U in my Co-Pay car? Everyone knows you have to Co-Pay before you can have one, as medicare doesn't cover the entire cost...oh wait, that is medication...nevermind. 337 vehicles eh? That is a lot of vehicles. I have owned just over 10 percent of that. (38)
As for restoring your license plates Rider, I would say go for it.
AAAActually I'm looking for a place to send off the plate for my '74. It's pretty beat up and that great old 70s blue and gold. Be nice if we had a local to do it. The only ones I've found so far are google searches on the east coast. Anybody have a guy?????
Hi Mark. I finally decided on a place called 'MoJo Artworks' - (address below). I talked to various people and for one reason or another they all recommended Mojo artworks. Plus, they had a phone number listed on their online advertisement. If a company doesn't post their phone number, I do not deal with them in most cases. I want to be able to talk to them on the phone. These people have restored license plates on some pretty well known hot rods. There are other companies out there including some that are a little cheaper, but with the feedback that I have gotten from people, I decided to go with this company. They charge $70 per plate plus shipping, but shipping doesn't cost that much - plates weigh nothing. I would however send the plates so they have to sign for them, since some of these plates are not replaceable.

Is that a Hemi in the car Aidric is standing in front of? The valve covers look a bit different, and it is running 3 deuces in stead of 2 quads.
Chrysler introduced the hemi in 1951, so this hemi could be from a 1951/58 Chrysler or 1953/58 DeSoto.
The Chrysler hemi valve covers are marked: Chrysler Fire Power. Don't recall what the DeSouse covers are marked.
Hemi's were replaced by the "wedge" in 1959, hemi's were re-introduced in 1966...but it's not the same engine.
The engines used in today's Chryslers, Dodge Ram, Ram and Dodges are semi-hemi's.
1951/56: A powerful engine with horrid transmissions behind it.
1951/53 Chrysler/Desoto's were only available with Fluid-Matic aka Tip-Toe Matic, but most peeps called it Clunk-O-Matic. It's a semi auto w/a "Safety" Clutch.
Use the clutch to move the shift lever into reverse or low/high or high/higher. When a certain speed is reached, you lift your foot off the gas pedal, the trans shifts into the next gear with an audible CLUNK.
If starting off in low/high, once the trans CLUNKS into high, the clutch must be used to shift into the highest gear. If you start off in high, CLUNK now you're in the highest gear.
1954/56's came with Power-Flight, an anemic 2 speed A/T. 3 speed Torque-Flight introduced in 1957, made all the difference in the world inre to performance.
I learned to drive in an old Chisler w/Clunk-O-Matic. If you think this trans is confusing, how many of y'all have ever driven a Mercedes with Hydrac, or a Citroen with Citroenmatic?
Or...a 1931/32 Reo Flying Cloud with its self shifter trans? Prolly no one...and y'all aren't missing anything spectacular...either. Just don't rest you mitts on the Mercedes/Citroen steering column shift levers, because...
