Good thing it happened off the highway.

You mentioned sharp rocks. I tore a big hole in a trailer tire once on a gravel road. The brake controllers will lock up trailer tires on low friction roads, and dragging a locked-up tire on gravel shreds them fast. Now I know to crank down my controller if I have to travel on gravel.
