Yeah, that's what they do. I confess total ignorance about what could happen, and figure the truth lies somewhere in the middle of both extremes we hear. I don't think it's the end of the world, but I think it might be worse than what some would lead us to believe.
Is he ex military? They really don't like dry firing. For many reasons I suppose, but I think it was influenced by the Springfield. It was bad for breaking firing pins. IMO you can snap that Ruger all day long and never harm it. I always snap my rifles before putting them up.
He was a merchant marine when he was younger and traveled all over the world. No military experience, even though he'll try to make you think he was a CIA agent. Yeah, he speaks 7 languages, but would you trust this man with a loaded firearm?
Morning William. Well, it all depends. If the cladding on that fuel ignites.....It will not be good. #3 sounds like it is already breached, so they could have one nasty release. They've got to get those pumps running, get some sort of cooling going. Either way, it's not going to be good.

I can only imagine what these men are having to deal with in getting that plant running again. It's hard enough building a new plant. Having to repair the sub systems when something is FUBAR'ed around every corner is almost incomprehensible.
It has to be terrifying. Those guys know that they are aborbing A LOT of dose. To go back in there, and face that, knowing that there is a very good chance you are going to die from it, they are incredibly brave.

I bet that's the last things on their minds. I'm sure they keep themselves occupied with the tasks at hand. That's the only way they can do it. Staying focused, and putting it together one little piece at a time, while the whole thing is hanging on by a thread.
I have to give a ton of credit to the Japanese people. No panicking, looting, any of that. Everyone seems to be calmly doing what they have to do to deal with the crisis.
I spent 6 months in that region of Japan, several years ago... a more honorable people you will never meet! They are the most honest friendly generous people I have ever known. I made a great deal of friends while there, and myself and my coworkers felt like we were the dirty Americans. Honesty, respect and honorability are their creedo, and truly a way of life for them and we liked to say that they are the most Christian non-Christians in the world. My heart truly goes out to them, and My concerns are for my friends there, as I have not been able to contact any of them so far... The Nuclear cleanup crew men are typical of the people of Japan, putting the people first, ahead of the one! very unselfish! May God bless them!
Well said. I hope they can get that plant under control, so they can concentrate their efforts on getting the rest of their country back to normal.
I agree with your earlier comment about the media, and their mis-information. It used to be in days gone by that they could not report mis-information without major reprisals. Now it seems what ever sells their network, and pads the viewer numbers, or fit's their particular political agenda is fine and dandy... Sensationalism Sells! CNN and ABC being the worst offenders! IMHO
I just think they need to do a little research! Some of the terms they have been using are not even close. I'd love to know where they are getting some of their info on these reactors. But, I'm sure that's not their agenda. Theirs is to draw people in to the story, regardless if all of their information is correct or not. Like you said, sensationalism sells. Boy, if that isn't ever the truth!

Misinformation, and cover up.
When the nuclear crisis first came to light, within a day or two, SecState Clinton announced that the US was flying in extra coolant for the reactor to help Japan! The story disappeared within minutes.
I'm not sure what is more frightening. A high ranking politician that is so clueless, or a press that so willingly buries the ineptitude.
