Keep an eye on the news. While they're not making a big enough deal out of it - the airborne contamination from the plant going up in Japan is expected to make it to the West coast of the US some time around next weekend - starting up in WA state and drifting South down past CA.
The recommended 'solution' is to stay in doors as much as possible for a few days once it makes land fall. (That seems like an optimistic 'solution'...) Not sure how severe the effects will be, how far inland they expect the effects to reach, or whether or not taking a vacation east would be a reasonable course. Will post an update if I hear more.
I have this info 2nd hand, but it's from a reliable source... As it is, most people don't realize that the background radiation levels in Socal are already slightly higher than normal from the original nuke testing that happened off the coast during WWII.
I had the same thought. :-) If I end up going anywhere, I'll you'll be the first to know.

I officially hate computers again. Shut down the desktop for the weekend and can't establish full connectivity with the Fios modem. When i run the diagnostic it keeps telling me to plug in a "LAN" cable, but I've never had one plugged into it...just a "WAN". Tried resetting the modem numerous times. I dread calling Verizon support. Anybody got a clue what else I could try?

Seems to be working now...it crashed and I got an error message (stop 0x000000D1 driver irql not less or equal) . Anyways, when I restarted I was able to connect.
Sounds like it is trying to use your wired Ethernet port instead of the wireless. Did you try unplugging the PC for 2 minutes?
You probably should disable your LAN port since you don't use it. It should not be necessary to do that. But sometimes it can avoid issues of priority.
Good day. Qualified #1 with an .015 reaction time, and went 5 rounds in eliminations. Broke out by .039 in the semifinal. Didn't throw out the anchor fast enough.
