Just so you know, the turbo guide vanes are not the same thing as the wheel. The guide vanes direct the gas entering the wheel to be able to generate more or less power - depending on need. The mechanism that adjusts the vanes can get gunked up or worn. You can really only troubleshoot/correct this w/ a turbo removal and cleaning.
Will unplugging the EGR and/or EBP show you if there's a problem?
I don't think unplugging the EGR will show a problem but it might give one--LOL. It will give you a light if it's not tuned out by tuning.
You can diagnose a problem by unplugging the EBP--a P0299 underboost comes to mind? I thought unplugging the EBP sensor should show a code but the OP isn't getting one. His scanner doesn't show EBP pressure either
(same as MAP and BARO).
EJ--great price on the EBP sensor. Post the part# and where you located it please?
yeah still no codes...but i asked santa aka(the wife) for the auto enginuity program for christmas...she said if i was a good boy maybe...
as for the ebp sensor i actually picked it up at my local dealer. had called on lunch said they had one in stock so left work a lil early to get it and when i got there someone had sold it! boy was i pissed and let them know it!! he called another local dealer and found one. guy felt bad and said he'd gimme a discount for my trouble, but lucky i printed out the price from the online place i found which was still cheaper. told him if he could match it he's got a sale otherwise i'd just order online.needless to say he matched the price. anyways.... here's the info...
fordonlineparts.com they call it egr pressure feedback sensor.$80.92. they don't show the part # so you'd have to call. make sure you know which one you have first. for the 05 there were 2 listed. mine was #4c3z9j460a which had 1/8" npt threads. the other has 1/2 -20 if i remember right. which one you need depends on the build date.
the other place i found was...
dieselfiltersonline.com #5c3z-9f460-b the pic they show is of the 1/2-20 thread. their price listed was $ 67.97.
hope this helps....
I too unplugged my ebp and didn't get a code, my auto enginuity is on the way, so I may know more in a few days when it arrives. Unplugged the egr today to haul some cows, and it seemed to have way more power, but the boost was right through the roof. I wouldn't want to be hauling a heavy load any distance like that - it hardly dropped below 25 lbs, hit over 30 regularly, and I wasn't beating on it. I thought the reflash would limit my boost, but it still tickles 33 lbs.
I WILL get this power thing figured out, and when I do, I'll share my results with everyone, while drinking a victory case of Bud Light.
hey guys just wanted to say problem solved.was the ebp sensor, i was just a dumba**. after driving all week w/ the sensor unplugged and countless hrs. reading posts on here it finally hit me. just because my scanner didn't show any codes doesn't mean there isn't any there. so i disconnected batteries to reset the computer, plugged in the sensor and a christmas miracle...the truck runs beautiful.
just wanted to say thank you to those who took the time to share your knowledge and experiences.it is greatly appreciated!!!saved me a trip to the stealership.
i was/am having low power problem when cold and a stumble just before the 2-3 shift .check EBP tube it was clean.Unpluged EBP sensor and it runs better no problems like when plugged in.
