Sticky Vains Maybe?

I have posted once before about my 04 4x4 126,000 lariat. When after some service work my exhaust/turbo whistle sound has decreased alot. So lately Ive noticed that the truck seems to be a little down on power. Also I have been having a dead spot in the throttle from time to time where the truck will not excelerate until about 1" of travel of the pedal, but no smoke or miss off any sort. Finally, the pitch sound of the turbo seems to skip a couple tone's when excelerating. Kinda like the turbo vains start to sweep and then skip a beat, then come back a lot loader. Not a smooth transitional sound. I hope I have described his event enough for someone to recognize what is going on. Thanks again, Mark

Can't say for sure but sounds like what happened to my 05 Harley super duty.
Soon after the slow lose of power my turbo locked up.
40,000 miles after Ford cleaned it.
So I did it myself. Not that big of a deal to clean the harder part is to get it back into place. Now it has only been @150 miles and 1 month later (due to the economy my truck has to sit since I can't afford to drive it) starts fine but under load it chuggs, rpm's are all over the place at 1/4 to 1/3 throttle boost is @ 10 and smokes like crazy. if I give it half to 3/4 throttle the boost gauge jumps to 25 and it takes off. Thought it was the turbo solonoid but it looked fine..
Back to your post have you ever cleaned the turbo?
Maybe someone else could help me with my problems.

make sure you re-assemble with high temp never seize
Took me @4 hours but again the hardest part is getting it back in.
Maybe someone has some pictures and a step by step procedure for you.
Also some people say you need to take the alternator out but I didn't and I got it out.

Hopefully you only applied VERY light coatings of the never seize.

Physically removing and splitting the turbo apart isn't difficult I feel. Just take your time and clean it real good.

Well finally got it sorted out. I decided to start cheap with the trouble shooting and turned out be clogged fuel filters. truck runs great and turbo has whistle again. I still cant believe how bad it could make these trucks run.
