speaking of wives cars...tomorrow i have to go look at a 2000 VW passat for a beater car. she doesnt want to keep racking up miles on her mustang, especially in the winter, and especially after the cams go in. i am waiting for the SCT SF3 programmer/scanner to show up so i can put them in.
YAY! I'm starting to rub off on some of you. be careful, the aftermarket is insane. Is it's 1.8T?
What are you doing in Marlborough. I was out there on thursday night with a patient, because she lost the connector for her oxygen tubing and was panicking.
Aaron, I thought you cursed your sister's VW???
What engine is in that Passat?
My mother's 2nd hand B5 turbo was a frigging disaster due to poor maintainence.
Passatworld is (was?) a good forum.

i hate the german cars, unfortunately after maintaining the previous 3 in the family and working on german crap for 8 years i have the required tooling to work on them and there wont be any surprises.
it is a 2000 passat, 1.8T 5 speed. it is a beater, not a nice shiney new one like brendons. its not the worst car i looked at under the $3000 mark though.
Most aggressive weather I've ever witnessed from inside the shop. Got the manifolds, up-pipes, injectors, turbo oil drain tube, and turbo pedestal off the 6.0 today.
Andy, the manifolds weren't as bad as expected. What we ended up doing was taking a 9mm socket on an extension and smacking it on with a hammer then spinning the bolts out. Going to get all new bolts from Ford when they go in.
