Yep, more variability in what it will show due to specific differences in placement. I read somewhere that 850* is a good conservative limit for a post turbo install, but many guys have them mounted on the downpipe and hopefully one will chime in with their experience.

When towing hard I'm always driving by the EGT. Shifting down will get the revs up, providing more cooling airflow. I can use a lower HP tow tune on the DP tuner to keep temps down another notch. Pulling a long steep pass can require pushing a lot of buttons.

Yep, the tuner will control everything. Your job is to steer, stomp, and grin. Giggling isn't cool but nobody is gonna catch ya.

The write up on the Turbo Master is a good read, check it out http://www.dieselsite.com/index.asp?...ROD&ProdID=875. Other mods will make a bigger difference IMHO but there is a lot of good theory of operation info.

Because the tunes control so many aspects of operation, the quality of the tune is important. "Canned" tunes like a Superchips or whatever are pretty generic, all 7.3 99-03 for example. "Custom" tunes take into consideration exact year model, tranny, PCM, mods, etc so they perform better and are safer for your truck. Decide how you will use the truck (towing or daily driver or drag or mudding, whatever) then add the proper mods for that purpose as your budget allows. Gauges are a great start! My mods are all pretty cheap and superficial, but ya get a lot of bang for your buck with these mods. It's not like the old days when ya had to dig around in the bowels of the engine swapping cams and such.

If you can add a signature (like mine below) with info about the truck it would help other people give good advice. And while I use and recommend DP Tuner, they are not the only option. Tony Wildman, Power Hungry Performance, etc several good ones out there. Search the forums here and then check out the websites to see what ya like.
