I'd have to agree. Most people want at least $100 for NP208's around here, as if they're made of gold or something.

So, to be clear... you need the transfer case shifter rod & linkage? I have vague recollections of this from my T-18 & 1356, it just bolts on to the side. Might be some plastic bushings between some levers & linkages, the HELP! section sometimes has those.

IIRC these were all SAE bolts, but it's been a while......

My human owners cleaned up my interior and washed with a hose on the outside. It felt really good because I needed it.

Shaun - That's an excellent price for a t-case. Was it that clean when you got it?

All I really need is the shift lever itself. But I'll take the extra linkage as well.

I know the small nut on the transfer case side of the linkage is a 14mm. The large pivot bolt that holds the actual shift lever to the transmission extension housing is a bit smaller than 1-1/8, but I'm not sure what that transfers to in SAE.

BTW, both the pivot bolt and the transfer case nut can be easily accessed from the interior of the cab, you just have to remove the inspection cover first, and do a little flexing.

I could only wish. It was covered in caked up grease. I took a soft bristle wire brush to it. I still have quite a bit of cleaning to go before it looks like the transmission.

Yes, two AFB's sounded awesome!

Good luck going over everything. It has to be something simple.
Two Holleys on a 289 sounded awesome too.

That's a sound that has gone missing in this EFI era. I grant you that EFI meters better than carbs, but having 4 or 8 venturi singing is a sound the injection systems just can't seem to reproduce. There was a reason the muscle cars had unsilenced air cleaners.

This seems to happen when I first start driving. After the truck runs a couple miles it is ok. It sometimes starts right back up and other times it has to crank and crank.

I've replaced the fuel pump, filter, all the old rubber gas line pieces I could find and have tried several different carbs ,nothing helps. When it is running, it smells rich but when it shuts off on me it seems like a lack of fuel. Another thing, it won't run worth a hoot on reg. gas. It diesels when shut off and pings when driving on reg. gas. Basic timing is 10 deg. Vacuum is approx. 17-18 at idle.

I've been known to have a senior moment now and then. Is there something I'm missing?
Just a thought, does it have cat converter?
If they go bad, they will cause those problems.
Smoke,flood out,ping, ruin spark plugs,etc..

Something to check if you still have the cat...Trav..

I think that must be the original One-Eyed One-Horned Flying Purple People Eater! Now I know why Ford didn't sell the truck in that color.

Thought about the cat but haven't checked it yet, a new cat is on the to do list because it looks like it's the original and the truck is an1981. Today I rechecked my timing and set it back to about 8 deg. That seemed to smooth it out and it hasn't shut off on me as of now but I haven;t driven it very much today.

The timing mark is really hard to see. I think I'm going to Dremel the mark a little so I can see it better. I plan on replacing the balancer next year when I take the front off the truck. A new balancer will have the correct mark. I'm not sure if mine has slipped the mark or not.

As frustrating as this has been, the darn thing runs so good that you can't tell if it's running or not when you stop for a light. It reminds me of an old Packard straight 8 I had, very smooth.
