I am also wondering how the 2011 remote start HVAC is designed. It doesn't seem to keep the last setting when turned off and is not responsive when remote started. There seems to be a little air moving into the windshield but it's very low. Can somebody please confirm how this remote start is supposed to work? I have the 2011 F-250 Super Duty 6.2 liter gas V8. HVAC controls are manual, not the electronic.

is the remote start factory or dealer installed? if dealer installed the remote start controll unit has accessory outputs for heaters, etc. usually the outputs go to the ign. switch feed circuits, and there is usually more than one feed circuit off the ign. switch that feed various areas of the vehicle. perhaps the wrong ones were tapped into ? anyhow if it is factory installed that would be a different issue. Id bring it back to the dealer and have them sort it out...warranty issue

It's factory installed. Doesn't seem to be consistent on when the fan runs and how much. Wondering if it considers ambient temp or engine temp as well. Was told it will just run what the last settings were but that is not happening. Does anybody know the how the logic is "supposed" to work. That way I can determine if it isn't working the way it's designed.

Same issue here with 2011 f350 diesel lariat- remote start factory option. Starts great, but no heat, defrost, fan, etc. What is the point of the remote start if defroster and heater don't come on? The electronic heat controls are all off until the key is inserted and turned to run.

Check out these threads for clarification on how it works (and it does, controls don't become active until key is in):

Ok, maybe it does work. Seemed to defrost itself the other day. Only runs for about 10 minutes, though. Can the be adjusted?

You can adjust the run time to 5, 10 or 15 minutes. Factory default setting is 10 min. You can adjust the run time in the truck settings on the lcd panel.
