Remote start?

I thought I read in the book that when it's hot/cold outside above/below 72 degrees, your seats will come on. Heated/cooled? I sat in my truck started it with remote start, but all the lights and gauges are off until I put the key in. I tried to listen for the cooled seat, it's 98 here now, and fifn't hear it. I waited a little longer and it didn't feel as if the cooled seats were on.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Shane

I know that my cooled seats do not come on until I put the key in, turn on, and press the button. The a/c does run hard though.

This is out of the owners manual:

REMOTE START CLIMATE OPERATION

The climate control system will condition the cabin temperature during
remote start based on the outside temperature. Engine idle may increase
to help with adjusting the cabin temperature.
Note: No climate control adjustments will be recognized during remote
start operation. Once the ignition is cycled to the on position, the climate
control system will return to the previous settings (last ignition-on cycle)
and adjustments can be made normally. If the previous setting was off,
the climate control system will turn off.

Manual climate control
For hot weather conditions:
• The climate control system will be set to MAX A/C.
For cold weather conditions:
• The climate control system will be set to provide maximum heating in (floor/defrost) mode.
• Rear defrost/heated mirrors (if equipped) will be activated.
For moderate weather conditions:
• The interior cabin will be heated, cooled or off, based upon the
previous operating state (last ignition-on cycle).
• Rear defrost/heated mirrors (if equipped) will be deactivated.
Automatic climate control
For hot weather conditions:
• The interior cabin will be cooled to 72°F (22°C).
• The cooled seats (if equipped) will be set to high.
For cold weather conditions:
• The interior cabin will be heated to 72°F (22°C).
• The heated seats (if equipped) will be set to high.
• Rear defrost/heated mirrors (if equipped) will be activated.
For moderate weather conditions:
• The interior cabin will be heated, cooled, or off, based upon the
previous operating state (last ignition-on cycle).
• Heated/cooled seats (if equipped) will be deactivated.
• Rear defrost/heated mirrors (if equipped) will be deactivated.

Are you in AUTO temp mode or manual?

How do you tell or change?

Do you mean how the last button was pressed before I leave the truck...Like auto temp will make it auto...all the bells and whistles...heated/cooled seats,...but if I have it on dual temp controls on it will only blow out max A/c.

Is that right?

Shane

Press the AUTO botton on the right side of the climate control.

Set TEMP and forget it. :-)

Thats correct Shane. If the AUTO light isn't illuminated when you leave the truck the seats will never come on.

When you turn the key to the on position does your AC system momentarily turn off? Just curious as mine does all the time.

mine does that (fan turns down to very low / off for a few seconds), and I usually leave it set to Auto... although I haven't noticed the cooled seats activating. It usually takes about 1-2 minutes for me to feel the cooling in the seats if I turn them on myself. Maybe I'm not letting it run long enough

Appreicate the quick reply. I have been concerned that it was not right and the AC should stay on. I had no idea the seats are supposed to work with this as well, since, like you I have never seen the seats come on.

We have had some very warm over 105 degree days this summer. Nice to get into truck that is cooled, but when it turns off for a couple seconds, it sucks. Even on those days the seats did not come on. Maybe it needs to be hotter. LOL

sounds like you live in the South like I do. 100+ for several weeks straight this summer... and high humidity to boot.

How are you gauging whether or not the seats come on? I'm 99% sure that the little blue LEDs won't turn on at all using remote start, and I think the whole system reverts to your settings once you put the key in (i.e. the fan "resetting" speed). Come to think of it, I park in the garage at work every day, and it hasn't been hot enough in the mornings. Maybe I haven't noticed it because I haven't encountered the requisite conditions in the 2 short weeks I've owned the truck?

I am in SoCal and going on 4 months with mine. Couldn't be more happy. Still learning things about the rig.

We have had an unbelievably mild summer, but we have had a couple weeks of extreme heat. I am definitely going to try and test out the seat thing when temps are extreme enough.

I knew it was not the "last used settings" as the other day I left the defroster on when I got home, since the mornings have been very damp. When I got into the vehicle after using the remote start, the heater was on and not the defroster. That made me say Hmmm. I think I understand now.

Based on the above sounds like it wants to adjust cabin temp. Still wish it would be more seamless when turning the key to on.

Mine was doing the same (momentarily shutting off when turning the key on), but I've found that if you turn the key very quickly to the on position, it doesn't shut off. Basically, put the key in the ignition, and turn it straight to on...not pausing in the ACC position.
