What does the black disc do on the fuel pump?

i think it smooths out the pulse for the split shots

George is correct. The disc smooths out the pulses in fuel pressure for the split shots. So wayyy less fuel pressure spikes like we see on the fed trucks, but that is easily fixed w/ an electric fuel system.
