i usually drive the speed limit or 5 below.
so with that in mind, you can understand how i get pulled over for "obstructing traffic"(going too slow) if the cop writes me a ticket, i request he puts the speed i was going on the ticket for use in court.
the last one i get was for doing 55 in a 55 zone.
when i went to court the first time the judge asked what my plea was and i said "not guilty"
he then asked how i felt i was not obstructing traffic when the cop thought i was.
my answer was "your honor, if you look at the ticket you will see i was doing the speed limit. if i was doing the speed limit, my defense is that i was not driving too slow, it is that everyone else was speeding"
the judge thought about it for a minute and threw it out.

so i now use that defense every time i get a ticket, and every time it gets dismissed.

Well, usually I can do in the neighborhood of 5 over and not have a problem. Hell, when I lived in Douglasville, my buddy and I passed a cop going 70 in a 45 and had no problem. But then again, maybe he wasn't paying attention. It seems to me that law enforcement is kinda laid back around here, not as much as in Douglasville, but still laid back. I just happened to get popped by the local HEAT unit.

Don't know about where Tom lives, but from my experience the speed limits in the northeast ish area are just a recommendation, 10 over is about the slowest you can go on the highway without getting run over, and it's rare to see the police doing anything slower than 10 over.

not really Bruce. the average speed on most of our roads is 75-80 mph, no matter what the posted speed limit is. if a cop sees someone driving slowly, they assume the driver is drunk and pull them over.
once they see i am not under the influence, the get mad i made them do something other than hide behind buildings or bridge abutments, shoot their radar guns, drink coffee, and eat donuts.

Well, I finally got pulled over in the Mountaineer, but not for speeding.

I drive 65 tops in the Mountaineer, as I like getting good mileage. However, this was in town, I was going 20 in a 25 and there was a cop behind me. All of the sudden he flipped his lights on, so I pulled over thinking I must have a tail or brake light out or something.

He comes up and asks me for registration, and then says that when he ran my plates, it came back as a white vehicle.

I never would have thought that I needed to call the DMV and have it changed! Well, it is changed now. The wife and I had a good laugh about it.

The cop was a nice kid, and just gave me a warning.

It makes sense to me, after he said it. If they run the plates, and the vehicle is a different color than it is supposed to be, it could be stolen. I see it as more of an officer safety thing, so they have more information on what they are getting into.

wow, that's a trip. while it does make perfect sense, it's something i've never even thought about. i've had two trucks that were re-painted different colors, but never got any grief from leo's about it. i'll have to keep that in mind if i bodyline the next truck i get.

Is there a proper "air gap"/vent in the weatherstriping?
