Either the ICP or the IPR can cause that. It's difficult nut to verify which, but if you pull the connector of one of them and find oil, start there.

If you had a way to watch you ICP (Scan Gauge or AE), you could diagnose that yourself, BTW. Those tools are excellent investments.

I guess you could also pull a plug on the oil rail and crank it real quick. A 500psi shot of oil would indicate the IPR is working and the ICP/PCM just isn't seeing the pressure causing the no-start. The PCM MUST see 500psi before it turns on the injectors...

Yeah I know I need to pick a time when nothing is going wrong with this thing and buy one of those. The only time I think about it is when something is wrong and dont want to spend any more than I have to. Maybe I can ask around Harrisonville Mo here and find someone willing to hook it up.

Not sure if this matter but I did crank it for awhile untill the oil pressure gauge shot up.

i believe if your guage shot up, showing pressure, your HPOP is ok, IMO i would start looking at the IPR first...right Chris

The oil pressure gauge in the cab is for LOW pressure oil. You have no visibility of the high pressure oil without AE/Scan Gauge (or a dedicated HPOP gauge).

that is what I was thinking but did not know for sure.
thanks for clearing that up. Guess I need to get it back from the dealership and look for oil at the connectors for the ICP and IPR first thing then get some stuff ordered. I have found a HPOP and IPR for $500 with a 12 month warranty. That is the best deal I could come up with. Does anyone know of anything better than that.

I'd definitely say check out the IPR and ICP first. If you have no oil mess or leaks or oil in the valley pan, then don't fool with O-rings. I doubt the HPOP is bad... Clay told me he has never really heard of or seen a 7.3L HPOP just quit. Joey from Terminator Engineering (he specializes in the 7.3L's HPOP... both stock and modified) and he said the same thing. From what I can gather, the pump can weaken, but rarely quit. AE is a good tool/investment. I just bought it an am loving it... I just need to upgrade my PCM so I can use more parameters and perform more tests.

I am pretty sure that there is no oil in the valley. I delt with that the last time I changed out my HPOP, but I will double check again when I get it back. It did stop abruptly. I was probably doing close to 70mph when it just decided to shut down. GR Milner Ford still claims 0 pressure at the HPOP. They said the blocked off both sides to test it.

Someone was talking about fuses earlier. What fuses could cause these symptoms? I will have it back tomorrow and would like to know what I can do if anything without an AE. to figure this out.

I think I would spend the money on an AE before I started throwing parts at it. Just my .02

There you are wasnt sure if you would be on here tonight. What does an AE cost? I am in a bit of a time crunch here as well so not sure which way to go yet. I will probably be giving you a call tomorrow morning sometime.

Since you have an e99, you might wanna look into upgrading the PCM like I'm looking into. The later 7.3L's take in more info and allow for more complex tests with AE.
