Yup the 351 is a gasser. This is just the regular rotella. I don't believe it's synthetic.
It has more zinc than most motor oils these day which is good for my 351w as its not a roller cam or roller cam block. I believe in 92' they went to roller or 94' don't really remember.
The extra zinc helps. My cat only has to last a few more years or about prob 50k miles if even. They should be okay.
I doubt the previous owner ever changed the oil the whole year he owned it. The stuff was black.
This is good info since I have built several engines in the past year and use Zinc/Phosphorus additive and Amalle Oil for the break in period. My engine builder swears by Valvoline synthetic, he claims the race engines come back for freshening in the winter, he throws them into the washer and they come out still slippery. He likes this.
thanks guys but we are all set, i have my brother for help. as for doing better, i cant say he is because they told him yesterday he may have broken the knee on his "good" leg. we are pulling him out of stamford and will be going to new haven if he needs any more hospital work done. at stamford we have been hearing a different story from 30 different people every 5 minutes. not to mention the hour drive from home is killing my mother.
It's good to make sure he gets the proper care, and very helpful if it's close by so you can check on the doctors and nurses regularly. You are making a great move.
Helped my buddy tear appart his tailgate and clean and grease it so it now works. Welded the sheet metal that has pulled out of the spot welds and straightened the front of the bed. The old 86 F250 is getting better every minute.
I looked up the ZDDP addivitive stuff, and I ended up spending the last hour reading about how they work, and then got into learning about the viscosity of oil. I don't think I remember how to tie my own shoe right now. That was a lot of "way over my head" information. You think you understand something, and ya just don't, at least not completely.
If anybody is interested this is the page that has links to pdf files for all this stuff. http://www.zddplus.com/ TechBrief 13 was the long one. Lots of interesting info.

Just buy oil that already has it in it.
Or blend in some Brad Penn 'green' break in oil. It's like the old Kendall stuff and is loaded with ZDDP for solid lifter motors.
i believe the job is in fairfield, exit 6 off 95 then into rich person land.
my brother and i built (slapped together) the most "not to code" wheel chair ramp ever. gets the job done though, hopefully it wont be there long. the big project for the day was lugging the hospital bed from my grandmothers basement and getting it set up.
my truck has stock injectors again
james has a BIG cam coming for his 7.3, im excited to see what it will do!

I just missed out on a smoking deal on a 3 point leaf/debris blower because I asked.
Lately, my Stihl BR600 backpack has been hurting my arm, so when this came up on craigslist, I was ready to jump on it. It was posted by an acquaintance from my local car club, and I knew it was for me. I've let this particular gentleman borrow lawncare items of mine before, so I knew I could talk him down.
"Honey, can I buy this leaf blower?"
"How much is it?"
"$1100"
"WHAT?!?!?!?!? You just paid $500 for the one you have two years ago!! NO!"
This 3pt blower has 4 times the CFM and 60 mph more windspeed, and I can drive it around my 1.5 acre yard.
Maybe I should make her backpack the yard this year.
