"Trailer Disconnected" warning ????

I've got a 2005 F350 Dually, 6.0 diesel. Towed the gooseneck this weekend and now my adio/visual warning display is going off endlessly saying the trailer is disconnected??? Yea, go figure, it's parked in the storage lot!! Anyone ever have this and know how to correct the warning from the computer???

did you check at the plug for water/dirt? That happens sometimes because of moisture.

Other cause maybe the controller itself.

You didn't happen to have an extension from the plug to the trailer wiring harness did you? I've heard that those can cause problems sometimes.

I'll almost guarantee its your brakes. The controller is ultra sensitive to bad grounds, magnets going bad, etc. AMHIK

Pull the neg battery terminal for a while and see if it regains its senses? Not scientific, but its cheap and easy to try.

When all else fails, cycle the power!

EDIT: just re-read and saw you have the 6.0... not sure if it is good to cycle power on diesels?

Mine did it when I had a magnet going bad on the trailer brakes.

I've had that and also the wiring for the brakes (on my race trailer) runs from one side of the axle to the other to inter-connect the brakes. The wiring ran inside the axle tube and, after time, chaffed away the insulation so it was occasionally grounding out inside the axle. Took me awhile to find that one, easy fix.

I also solder my connections and use shrink tube to insulate; I've had far less problems since taking the time to do that.

my Ford F450 King, 6.4 is doing this now too. Annoying to say the least!! Didn’t know about about the sensitivity part? Already changed out trailer plug and truck plug. Still doing it unfortunately!!! I’ll start with the trailer wiring, then test all four brakes to see if one’s bad. Also check ground!

question: could emergency take locking system cause it if the battery is dead? I figure not as the problem is on of over and over again. Figured I would ask just in case…
