Only way to check is to unplug it and drive it. If your problem goes away and it runs smooth, its bad. Its in the very back of the engine, on top, right behind the intake manifold. It should only have 2 wires, and its fairly wide at the base.
If you still have intermittent problems or a miss, check your distributor cap. Usually, you can clean the corrosion off the terminals and blow the distributor out with compressed air and that clears up the problem most of the time. But, if its a '92, and all original, it may just need a full tune up. Plug wires don't age well.
what symptom do you have that makes you think the knock sensor is bad? To test it attach a timing light and tap on the block with a hammer, watch to see if the timing retards
