X-Plan

Not that I have anything against experimental aircraft, but save your money and go buy $40 worth of ford stock fro E-Trade or whomever you want. That entitles you to 2 X-Plan pins per year. I have gotten many pins that way.

All you have to do is fax a copy of your statement showing you own at least one share over to Shareholder Relations and they hook you up. Takes only a couple of days.

Also, last I knew, it was not the dealer's option to participate in X-Plan. My understanding was that it was a requirement of being a Ford dealer.

Funny business is not allowed. The terms are clear. No funky doc fees etc...only I believe a $75 fee is allowed to be charged per plan terms

I have not used the EAA X plan because I have aa z plan option. Mr. Bill Ford, yes that guy, was at the EAA Convention again this year. At the Openning Ceremony, they flew the new 2011 Escape into the airport hanging below an Erickson Aero-crane. Bill Ford was in the Escape. In his speech he thanked the EAA for all their member support and reminded the membership that they all had x plan privileges. I just went to the EAA website, logged in as a member, and went to the Ford x plan section. As a member, I just checked the box that said "get pin". I was directed to a page that needed the personal information to obtain a pin. I stopped there. Looks very simple to me

By the way, Aaron is right about "funny fees". The dealer is limited to $75.00.

Regards

X-plan is just that simple...when you go to the dealer indicate x-plan and yes you have the pin.

They should the invoice, you pay that plus any discounts you can get and then out the door you go.

No haggleing. I love it.

No. You need a pin. However, some cars qualify for a $500 EAA rebate. The new Super Duty doesn't though.

So this may sound like a stupid question aaronbrace but what Ford stock should be purchased? Just the common stock or the Ford Credit stock. They have many available offerings. Does it matter which ones you own?

Thanks,
Bryan

Just read at Blue Oval Forums that you have to hold the stocks for 6 months before qualifying for the X-Plan PIN.

All you need is Ford common stock. The symbol is 'F'.

I have not heard of a 6 month window. My sister bought some a couple weeks before she bought a new truck. Maybe the people at shareholder relations didn't catch it, but they issued her a pin.

I uploaded a copy of their welcome letter and application for for applying for the X-Plan. Nothing is mentioned about how long you have to own the stock for on the app. I uploaded it to the following URL. I believe it contains all info you need to apply.

Nice job Aaron. It doesn't say anything about holding the shares for any length of time before qualifying. I have printed the form and will be sending in soon. Thanks again.

You are required to buy 100 shares and have it for 6 months before getting a X pin

Yes but still a bargain if you get 3-4 thousand off of a truck

And you can sell the stock after you've bought the truck if you want to. I'm thinking holding Ford stock right now over a period of 2 or 3 years you will see a nice size appreciation.

I bought my 100 shares last March because I knew that I wanted a new 2011 F150. I will also keep the stock as an investment. I have owned John Deere stock for many years and it has rewarded me handsomely. I expect Ford to do the same.

I don't think you guys understand...

X-plan wont save you "thousands of dollars"... well... not unless you were actually considering buying at MSRP.

It MIGHT save you $500 to $700 compared to what you might pay after a little negotiating.

And... if you borrow $30,000 at 4% for 5 years, the x plan MIGHT save you $12 a month.

Here... let me give you a real, good-as-cash tip. Go to the Ford website and request a 2011 F350 brochure. You'll get it about 5 days and it will have a $750 coupon that you can use on any new Ford. But keep in mind that it's only good for 30 days! So don't request one until you are ready to buy.
