Sketchy's back to work for the first time in 40 odd years. Loaded up a big propane tank to test it, and the big show is my Airflow's flathead, which is going to town tomorrow.
Had a job in Manteca that justified using the '56. It was over 100 degrees out there yesterday, so the 1 hour drive to the site was good exercise. The old Y block ran at 200 degrees and 45-50 psi oil pressure at 60 mph the entire way. Glad I brought my umbrella!

Awesome! I like the umbrella stuck in the stake pocket. I'm sure you get lots of compliments from other job site workers.
Yeah it was fun, but a little tricky to keep up with the 4x4 Chevys. It got done though. I do like the modern hi-tork starter, MSD ignition and alternator set up. Makes out of tow trips low stress.
We have been looking for a smaller older Kubota tractor with a loader to use on our place. We found this one in Springfield MO, about 100 miles away from us. It was a good workout for the F4 to go and get it yesterday. It was around 100 degrees all day and the truck did really well hauling the tractor back. I do have to get the insulation in my cab though, it was so loud my wife and I could hardly hear each other taiking. Here is a photo to prove it happened.

Thanks! No, I installed an '84 Mercedes 3.0L 5cyl turbo diesel. I have it mated to the 4 speed. It is about the same power as the Mercury flathead..

Thanks! Abe Yes I do have the firewall pad installed. I have a couple of boxes of a generic Dynamat, but I haven't installed it yet. A fellow parked behind me at a car show a couple of years ago in a beautiful '49 Mercury M68 pickup. When he closed the doors it was as quiet as a new car. He told me what insulation he used and where he ordered it from, so I bought enough for my cab. I guess I need to join your procrastinators club,

The firewall pad really makes a difference. And the generic Dynamat will really help.
About the Ford Truck Procrastinators Club, I plan on typing up membership applications but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
