It is possible that the bearing was over/undersized and needed to be fitted.
Did you block the oil feed to the ebpv?
Blocking the port allows more oil flow to the turbine.

As for the crack it could have caused the core to shift.

Everything was tight when I put it together. OEM replacement kit. The original bearings were pretty decent looking. My compressor diffusser seal area was tore up and the shaft was tore up, but I didn't think twice about it on the center section because the old bearings were not scared up.

EBPV is removed. I don't see how it would cause more oil to go into the center section. The cylinder acts as a resivior unless it is in operation.

The crack causing the core to shift is a good assumption.

The crack has not advanced any further than when I rebuilt the turbo, but it is there, either way. We cannot see what is inside the center section, so that makes things tough.

Anyone know where I can get a new center section?

There is no pic shown, but if you go to his Ebay store, there is a pic there.

I have not personally bought anything from him, but I have heard good things about him, and I have talked to him over the phone.

I figured out what went wrong with this.

My exhaust side seal didn't seat all the way into the turbo. I didn't think it had when I installed it, but ended up stripping out my impeller the first time trying to get it to seat.

I just installed my old one into my center section and it goes in further than my one with the seal on it.
So, perhaps the exhaust side seal area was damaged on my center section the first time I rebuilt it.

I noticed the ring doesn't compress down to the size of the shaft where it is on there as well.

I don't have any pictures of inside of there to reference it too either, so that doesn't help.
I'm not sure if where the seal is supposed to be is smooth, or supposed to have a ring in it like mine does.

This is a bump right here, about where the seal is supposed to set.
I cannot get the seal past this part, and I think that is what happened. I'm sure all sorts of stuff I didn't want in there was getting in there.
And when the bearing started to fail, it put more pressure on that area causing it to leak.
