Hmmm...Not sure how the IDM would do that, but if this came up the same time the IDM was done...
?
Cups failing would push fuel into the cooling system and overflow the coolant.
Bad o-rings would push oil into the fuel so fuel filter would be black. Cahnge filter, run the truck for a bit, then cehcek fuel/filter again.
Injectors are fairly fresh so it's unlikely it's an o-ring, but anything can happen when William get's buzzed up before working on his truck.
Its it a greyish haze of smoke?
You can see the haze more at night from the cars behined you. (headlamps)
Try it in other tunes. Note the changes if any.
Iam betting that you are over fueling with the idm mod.
The grey is unburnt fuel while the black is not completely burned fuel.
Rick
Its not an issue with the idm in itself.
A tell tail sign is just change the chip setting or remove
the chip ect. If the smoke change with it you know its
the tune. It has alot to do with motor condition. How
efficient the burn is in that exact motor.
One more thing T said on the phone , it started the last time he topped off the coolant..
Not good.
A tread goes way out of wack when you dont get the full story.
Depending on how low it got along with how hot it could have
developed a crack. Most times it will be a cup. A sign is fuel
in the coolant will be seen.
This is all wags from me. A pressure test of the cooling system is needed first.
Then move on to the next if passed.
My next thought would be turbo seals gone and it's actually oil causing the smoke.
Happened to me once a few years ago.
X2 jim.
With the use of syn oil its much different. Most of them
do not want to burn. Had a motor with a bad exhaust valve seal.
The oil made it all the way to the end of the tail pipe!(dripping)
Ill post more when I get home. Phone is being a pain. Won't let me watch what I type.
Coolant is good. No fuel in there. Level in res has dropped an inch or 2
Leak is slow where it is. So its not from that.
Its not fuel in tailpipe. Def coolant smelling. Pure white. Tint on glass makes it look blue in mirrior.
Uhm. Havnt checked fuel color yet. Don't want to get fuel all over this guys yard. Working today.
Uhmm, bill. Settings on chip making no difference either. First thing I checked. Just turns into black smoke with higher settings. Smoke setting even puts out white first.
High idle does same. That's just a stock tune with higher idle. White smoke therre. Getting rid of this smoke tune next burn. Worthless.
