At around 40% DC, I'm getting a dark white smoke outa my truck now.
Anywhere under that, and no smoke.
It's hard to tell the exact color in the mirrior, I'm sure you all understand.
Nothing at idle or going down the road, just when you get on it.
I know its not unused fuel, cause if I stay on it, it eventually puts out a little black, its my DD tune, so shouldn't be smoking.
I can only think it's an O-ring problem, but I don't see how.
Ideas?
Only one I have is that an injector got a little loose, but that doesn't make sense either.
I noticed the same issue with mine. Its a grayish smoke when I start to get on it but turns black when I really get on it. My power is still normal and it runs normal
I was going to post about it but you beat me William
I feel like mine comes in stages. I saw it for the first time early friday morning but it wasn't a lot. I than noticed it again on saterday evening after putting 500 miles on it in that day alone. It was a little worse than before (I think). I drove it to work this morning and didnt see a thing
Sounds like the next step is pulling the sticks and seeing the conditions of the o-rings and cups.
I would think you'd see some oil in the fuel bowl if the o-rings are shot. I can't remember what my filter looked like when my o-rings went out, but it will be blackish is oil is getting in there?
Not sure if that engine has the EGR...I had the same type smoke out of my 6.0 on two different occasions and both times it was the EGR valve that had gone out and I was leaking coolant into the exhaust....
Mines white smoke only. I was able to watch today. I can just stick in neutral and rev out white smoke.
I'm totally saying injector cups for this one. I don't understand why it doesn't do it going down the road or idleing. Just when you get on it.
Its def white only. No blue.
Sticks are still new. So not o-ring fail.
Topped off coolant recently, and res. So more pressure in cooling system right now also.
Anymore thoughts? Or does cups sound pretty spot on?
As for headgasket fail, usually involes boost. I'm pretty good bout that stuff.
And don't often build much.
Only thing I've done is smoke out the neighbor the other day. He wanted to pass but he couldn't see. Haha. Suka!
Its it a greyish haze of smoke?
You can see the haze more at night from the cars behined you. (headlamps)
Try it in other tunes. Note the changes if any.
Iam betting that you are over fueling with the idm mod.
The grey is unburnt fuel while the black is not completely burned fuel.
