Looking to put HID's on my truck. I would like a low beam and high beam along with the fogs. Do any of you smart men know of a great kit and website to get all 3 of these?
I got mine from DDMTuning.com and have bought several sets over the last couple of years. Check my sig for the specs of my headlight setup. If you buy from them, you'll need the wiring harness and the Hi/Low relay. Easy plug and play install. I did not get the fog lights but only because I didn't think of it. If I ever actually use the fogs, I'll probably end up upgrading them as well.
I have Hid's for the 05 in my sig and they are amazing, i can see 10 times farther down dark country roads(cant see your hand 6inches from your face out here) that i live on, they illuminate everything. great buy IMO.
The H13 is the correct bulb? How do you like it? scale of one to ten (ten the highest) how much brighter is it?
H13 is the right bulb for the 2011 super duty headlights. I'm not sure what number for the fogs because I haven't installed those. How do I like it? It's clear I really like the bulbs because they are so effective at a very low price. The 2011's have the added advantage of the sharp, horizontal cut-off line that protects oncoming drivers from glare. Not sure how to rate brightness on a scale of 1 to 10. I believe they are about as bright as you can get without causing oncoming vehicles to be distracted or attracting attention from the troopers.
Is there any special installation tips you may have from your own experiences that would be of help to me? Certain way the lights need to be mounted or anything to make installation easier. I don't completely understand HID's but definitely need some brighter lights. I heard once before you need to be careful with the way its all mounted and the way the lights are directed, do i need to do that?
No, the bulbs can only go in one way. Impossible to install incorrectly. The internal baffle inside the headlamp assembly keeps the light focused properly. My only advice when installing would be to hookup the lights with all the wiring strung out over the engine until you are certain you have everything working right. When you've accomplished that, re-route the harnesses and start zip-tying. Use split wiring harness conduit to finish it all off.

so, this is bulbs in existing housings, right?
are there 2 bulbs each side.. one low, one high?
DMT doesn't explain anything, so I'm not sure..
our suburban brights are amazing, while the F350 is almost adequate..
dark country roads.. travel on business too much and get home at 1-2am.. need to avoid the deer
Dont touch the bulbs with your hands, the oils on your hands will shorten their lives. other than that if you get a simple play n plug kit, its a very easy install, hardest part is taking the whole head light out.
There is one bulb in each side. You can choose between a 35 or 55 watt for brightness. I use 55 watts in my vehicles, 35 watts in my smaller ATV's and Polaris RZR. The 55 watt bulbs produce enough heat that you need a large headlamp housing to accommodate it. The Super Duty housing works great. DDM Tuning offers a Hi/Low relay that you add to the wiring harness that switches the single bulb between focused beam and broad/hi beam.
For the headlights, here's what you need. Two bulbs, the hi/low relay harness, and the wiring harness. I chose the Slim Ballast model instead of the Apex Cone because the ballasts are cooler. The bulbs are the same regardless which ballast you choose.
I like the lower frequency (5K) because I don't care for the blue tint. At 5K, only a tiny bit of blue and very white, at 6K more blue and at 8K lots of blue. Regardless of what you chose, you will see the deer a long way off or REALLY well just as they jump into your grille.

That's true, took me 30 mins to get the grille and headlights off the first time because I couldn't see the release tabs at the bottom of the grill. If I did it again, 5 minutes tops, really. 10mm socket with extension (for the headlight housings) and a regular screwdriver.
Awesome thank you for the advice. Looks like I will be ordering them real soon. You have to take the Grille off to get to the headlights? That is kind of ridiculous.

It's not like a cab-off thing. 4 bolts, one press-in plastic holder and about 6 clips. 5 minutes the second time you do it. Really. Actually looks like a great design because it opens up the front end so much. See what you think after you actually try it and let us know.
