Anyone had any issues with oncoming traffic flashing you even on low? The HID bulbs really require a reflector/projector designed for these bulbs to prevent scatter which can cause problems for oncoming drivers. The NHTSA is evaluating (this year) whether to allow consumers to install unapproved HID kits in vehicles. The new kits would include NHTSA approved headlight assemblies which would obviously cause a significant increase in price. As it stands now, the law says that if the HID bulb is placed in a headlight enclosure that was not designed for HID, it is illegal.
NHTSA Notice: Glare from Headlamps and other Front Mounted Lamps - FMVSS 108

I run these on my bikes and my cars, but wondered if anyone has been ticketed on here?

Haven't been ticketed but I was getting flashed by oncoming traffic even with the beams on low. I adjusted the beams downward and the flashing stopped immediately. Three minutes to adjust the beams and you're good to go.

Did you do the leveling kit at the same time as the HID's? I'm just curious if it's from the leveling kit raising the front end or if it was truly the HID's.
BTW - nice work on the videos, keep 'em up!

Yes, I did do the 2 inch level on the front end. I'm sure that contributed to the problem. I almost felt guilty for the poor drivers waiting to turn left when I turned right onto their road. The bright beams would sweep right across their faces and had to be a pain. Since the adjustment, the beams now properly sweep across their cars just below the window so I feel better now.

Just like the leveling kit that required an alignment, an HID kit requires adjusting the headlights.

I'm glad that worked for you. The issue is with the glare caused by the light being scattered by the wrong reflectors in the housing. In NY, they're supposedly going to start checking this at the annual inspection due to so many complaints. I suspect other states will follow suit.

Has anyone done the driving lights yet I think it is an H10/9145 bulb?

So if you install the HID kits in a projector housing (Recon for example) then are the legal? Anyone know

They are only legal when the housing was manufactured for the hid kit - I wouldn't really worry about it - I drove my last truck with hid's for over 8 years and never got stopped or asked about my lights once - knock on wood......

Nope...illegal according to law. This is a timely thread...my buddy was pulled over yesterday in his 09 F250 and given a ticket...for his headlights (HID add-ons) Officer told him it'll cost him around $165!!

Apparently they can tow your vehicle or make you sit until it is daylight. The more research I do the more it makes me wonder if it is worth it.

If that were to happen, you could drive with the fog lights on. But again, to even get into that situation means that someone was irresponsible in installing the hid's. Remember after installation to follow-up immediately with readjusting the beam downward.

Thumbs up HID Fog Lights

Hi All

First time on the Forum
I have just ordered my F 350 and as I live in Australia I will have a bit more of a wait than most of you
I am going to install HID into my headlights but I also wish to install a set into the fog lights
The bulbs are 9145/H10 but when I look at the different sites they show 2 types, DDM show the bulb with a tail and another site shows the bulb in a holder (no wires)
Any help would be appreciated as I cant look at them in the car
