I believe the '83 frame is slightly different at the front. I think they changed the "horns" to attach the newer front bumper, and they changed them again in '92 for the same reason and to make them collapsible.
They might have. I know that only the f150 got the crumple zone on the frames. I don't think the f250hd and f350s ever did. But its not a big deal if i have to swap front clips.
Thanks Josiah. Its a big project but i'll work through it.
Tanner is the rust on both sides of the frame or just on one side?
On my '92 I had to fix the left side. I bought the left rail from just behind the cab from a junk yard. When they delivered it they just cut both rails and gave me everything crossmembers and all. It worked out to my benefit, I took it all apart. I cut the top and bottom off the right rail and nested it into the left (rotted) rail. I drilled holes before and aft of the rusted sections to bolt it in. Then I took it back apart and cut the rust out of the left rail. With the right rail bolted back in I was able to cut the new left rail and set in in place using some of the factory holes to bolt it together then had it welded. By making this inner plate from the right rail I was able to be certain the new rail pieces were in the correct location before being welded permanently in place.
tanner, its too bad that truck is a long bed. i have a bronco frame, sandblasted, painted, new hangers and all just sitting here.
i need a snack break, i have 5 hours left on my osha stuff. i thought it would go much quicker but i keep falling asleep (monotone boringness...) making me have to go back and redo sections. poop.
My boss has a lake house there too Brendon. It's a pretty nice place. My buddy and I had my kayaks out on Moodus Res. today doing some fishing. That's a pretty nice lake to live on it seems.

damn that sucks. This frame is in pretty rough shape. But a great bed, engine is awesome. Not even the check engine light. Plow. Parts to swap to 4 wheel drive. I still got more than what i paid.
I'm gonna keep my eye out for a good frame. In the mean time were gonna tear it down and see what other damage there is.
I love nice calm lakes. Was on lake champlain all last week in milton, on a small quite gravel road.
Good tip Justin. I did contact a junk yard. The frame has a hole right after the cab.
Greetings from Ohio. Made the first 8 hours of drive time in about 11 hours (not bad for 2 kids). Didn't end up leaving Bristol until around 9:30 though, gotta leave earlier than that tomorrow. Getting in at 9 tonight really sucked.
