Ok guys I just rebuilt my brothers transmission 1995 f250 E4OD. all forward gears work and shift fine. truck will idle in drive with foot on the brake but when shifted to reverse the engine will stall. it feels like you let out on the clutch and held the brake on a stick. the truck will back up but you have to give it gas and go as soon as you put it in reverse. is it posable that I got a ball bearing in the wrong place or if they gave me the wrong torque converter with the kit could that be it? any help would be great thanks.
Ok i have played with this truck some more today and i'm leaning toward a torque converter issue. reverse is same as before stalls on engage unless you give it a lot of gas as soon as it engages so the truck can start moving. i drove the truck around town for about 30 min. it still shifts up and down ok but a few times it stalled when rolling up to the lights. it gave the feeling that i needed to push in the clutch. is there something that could make the t/c act this way or would it be the t/c its self? any ideas would be helpfull thanks.
Not an expert but I would think the torque converter clutch is locking up at idle. Maybe because of low line pressure.
Is the fluid level good, should have taken around 16qts to fill it?
If that is OK then I would check to make sure that the fluid filter has not fallen off into the pan. Also if the truck is 4x4 make sure you used a filter for the 4x4 trans.

Reason: typo
First off thanks for the reply guys. Lazy K the truck is a 4x4 and it did take almost 16 qts. to fill it. i pulled the pan off to check the filter it was still in place i compared the filter to the old one the are the same so no luck there. as far as low line pressure how would i ckeck that?
BPofMD thanks for the reply. i took the trans with me to the supply house to make sure i got what i needed so i'm prety sure it's an e4od.
