E4OD transmission shifting problems

I have a 94 ford f-250 4x4 with the E4OD. The problem is sometimes when you drive the truck as you shift into reverse or drive the truck just slams into the gear but as you drive it down the road in drive the truck shifts smooth and no problems. I just had the transmission rebuilt 2 years and the shift solenoid pack replaced a year ago and the mechanic says he can't find anything wrong even when he hooks it up to the computer to check for error codes and pressures. Any ideas what i could it be or has anyone else have this same problem?

I would check for too high an idle speed, worn universal joints in the rear driveshaft or excessive play in the rear differential.
Hopefully one of the trans experts will chime in soon.

If spring # 34 is broken or the valve # 33 is stuck it can cause a harsh reverse engagement. The forward engagement will be softer because of a cushion plate in the drum.
