Also, the outhouses had a door up high that was obviously positioned for offloading from a truck. That would be for unloading the propane and oxygen cylinders.
I was essentially correct, except that they add propane to the oxygen to create an actual explosion that is directed at the snow plane. I couldn't see how they could get enough shock wave from simply compressed air. The propellant gas explains it. It also explains why the hoses leading from the outhouses to the cannon are yellow colored, which is code for buried gas piping.
I didn't see what I would recognize as an igniter, but it must be hidden in the cannon barrel.
