Hello SoCal! Back from our trip to Texas, had a really nice time. Damn long drive, though!

Not nearly as far as it is from here!

But I enjoy the drive and the scenery along the way.

True! Not a whole lot to see in Kansas, but it does get pretty down in Oklahoma.

Still torn between letting the govt shell out for airfare to fly me to the east coast... vs driving the truck out - and being able to pit stop in FL on the way home to bring back some shop equipment. (welder, torches, saws, etc etc.... ) That... and it'd be nice to have the truck with me for the few months I spend out there... going to need to upgrade my entertainment system before driving several days through the desert to get there. :-)

Only down side is that the cost of airfare (the amount they'd give me for 'travel') would be just enough to get me about half way out... one way. At this point... I don't think I mind. Last time I was gone, I missed my truck almost as much as I missed my wife.

You won't be able to move the stuff out here any cheaper than you can bring it back yourself.

Morning Steve. We went down to South Padre Island for a few days, then up to San Antonio for a week. Did stop in Dallas, and took a tour of the new Texas Stadium. Pretty impressive!

From across that little "river" that runs adjacent to it (from the Arlington Convention Center), we watched them put on the roof on it last year. That thing is HUGE!!

It's an amazing facility. Jerry Jones definitively put some cash into that place! At one end, there is a huge Ford display, with a bunch of Ford cars on shelf-like platforms. I'll have to dig up those pics and post them up.

Who can tell me what this is, what it does, and how it works?

This is the view from the site, of Mono Lake, to give you a little perspective. There were at least 3 - 4 of these along the top of the ridge.
