Ok so I have a 1996 f-250 super duty with the 7.3 and a 5 spd tranny. while installing my south bend clutch this past weekend I managed to break the cast aluminuim transfer case linkage, the part that connects the in-cab shifter to the transfer case. does anyone have any ideas on a better fix then cast aluminum?? i priced one out and its dealer only for about $350.
any ideas on making a better stronger piece?? or am a just going to have to replace it with a new one from the dealer??
Are you talking about the piece from the linkage to the TC? Mines a different year and different TC, but it's a piece of steel about 1/8' X 1/2" X 12' or so...
If you're talking about the bottom of the shifter, then a junkyard find would be better.
according to dealers ford only used that design for 3 years, 1995 super duty-1997 super duty. so might be hard to find one. Ive e-mail a few peeps from e-bay but no reply's yet.
I would call around to different scrap yards to find one, those guys are real sharp at knowing such things. Take your old one off, bring it with you. What you have is the same as mine, and like I said its a 92.
